Marcus
This may sound like a silly question, but I don't actually know. Is it possible to runa 6 volt pack straight into a reciever instead of 4.8 volts or do you need a voltage regulator? Thanks,Marcus
Bruce Richards
You should check the speck for your specific receiver but all the one I have seen would be fine on 6V. No you do not need a regulator.Bruce
Tim Mackey
Its not the receiver itself that is the problem -its the servos. many of them these days are OK on 6V but some are not. Please check the specs of the receivers you intend using.Incidentally, why do you want to use 6V anyway ?
Marcus
Because if you see my other thread then you will know.In short, big model, want more servo torque.
Tim Mackey
Ah well, thats fine then. Nope just use a 5 cell pack ( or even better a 2s Lipo and regualtor )
Marcus
From where do you get a charger for 6 volt batteries? Can't find one anywhere...
Tim Mackey
As long as it s more than 6v any charger that has either peak detect control, or is very low trickle current will do. The voltage is not really actually that important. You could probably use the wall wart radio charger and use the tr output if the rcvr output is below 6v. Most people use something versatile like a pro peak prodigy or similar.
Nicholas Booth
If you are like me and prefer to trickle charge your 6v batteries I recently brought the Protech Multi Charger 6, it can charge multiple batteries up to 5 at the same time although must be different capacities. I charge two planes over night at the same time without any problems and are fresh in the morning only costs £14 as well from any reputable dealer whose shop might begin with their first name.Nick
