legslambert
The most annoying noise in the world! I am just starting to set up an E-Flite Hurricane 25e BNF with EFLR7140 sub micros in it. I am checking the electronics are okay and I was going to set up the flaps, but when I power everything up the servos whine like mad. It isn't just one of them. It's whatever is plugged in. They seem to function okay, as does the motor. Does anyone know why my model is screaming?
legslambert
I have discovered that if I put pressure on them with fingertip or slight push against the control horn they will temporarily stop whining. Tweak the sticks to move the servos and off they go again. Could it be something to do with the servos needing to be loaded?
Colin Bernard
I dont know this model, but looking at the ads for it, it would appear to have digital servos, which are often noisy as they continually hunt around checking they are correctly positioned. WolstonFlyer
Agreed , they are high speed digital metal gear servos and will be quite "buzzy" compared to analogue ones. As Colin says they constantly hunt around the centre point and as a result they make more noise. You should not notice when the model is in the air. legslambert
Thanks Colin and WolstonFlyer, Yes, I knew digital servos were always checking for position, just didn't expect them to be so loud! Or annoying.I haven't used digitals before. Been fiddling with it and the problem is becoming increasingly intermittent. Sometimes they just shut up and are silent. Tom Sharp
Digital servos feel the weight of the connected surfaces. Hold the model in a vertical position, ie not by the prop, and they will be silent.
