John C
I have been experimenting with the weather settings in Phoenix 4 and it has given some strange results. With the weather set to ‘Brisk day’ (one of the standard saved setups with a base wind speed of 8.9 mph and gust speed of 2.3mph), when the base and gust direction are altered (but all other settings are unchanged) the oscillation in the wind direction as shown on the wind compass increases with the direction: Heading of base wind and gusts 0° - wind remains constant in a direction Heading of base wind and gusts 90° - variation about this heading is ±25° Heading of base wind and gusts 180° - variation about this heading is ±45° Heading of base wind and gusts 270° - variation about this heading is ±70° Heading of base wind and gusts 360° - variation about this heading is ±90° At most flying sites I would imagine that swings in wind direction of ±45° or more are unlikely. In Phoenix I find it can make landing without damage a bit of a lottery! What settings do you guys use to simulate a breezy day with say 15 mph winds?
