jimbo
I often read how important it is to blance the prop, and I can see all the sound reasons for it .But,then when mounted ,engine started, you can plainly see how far out of true,if using one, the spinner is,surely this negates any prop balancing.jimbo
Tim Mackey
The purists will say you should balance the spinner too ! - on large models I do.
Mike Rolls
JimboIf the spinner runs out of true junk it and get a better one. Vibration, if bad enough, can be a killer of radio gear as well as airframes.Mike
birdy
Talking of balencing spinners, how do you?
Tim Mackey
I have the "great planes" magnetic job - it has two cones which butt up against and inside the prop face / hole, and on the large metal spinner I have on my IC model there is a fixing hole through the nose too, so I use it the same way. Steven Houston
Maybe off topic but can someone advise me on the size of prop to buy for an Irvine 53 going on a giles202ARTF KIT ?? Yeh i'm newish to flying, gave it a go a few years back but left it after my first model crashed but my understanding is much better now but i'm not sure which size prop to get for the engine(Irvine53).Any advise appreciated as the guy at my LHS seems to give the impression he cant be bothered with you?? Ripmax listed dealer as well, baffles me as i go all out when i take a fancy but this guy just seems to have no interest in new guys!!Cheers. Tim Mackey
Approx... 10-8 / 11-7 / 12-4 / 12-5. start small and work up to find the one which works best.
