Adrian Smith 1
I am no cheer leader for Deluxe Materials, but I have just started to use its PowerModel 2T oil in my petrol engine mix and the transformation in engine performance/tickover of my OS petrol jobs quite marked. I know it's a bit pricey, but in this case it's really as case you get what you pay for and I'll tell you why. Right from the start, using a decent 2T oil from an auto factor, the tick over on these engines, unusually for OS, was not that stable. A quick e-mail to WOO in Oz for some ideas. He suggested that it might be the 2T oil as the "flash point" may be too low in some auto oils causing overheating. He also advised just checking airflow around the carby was sufficient. I was pretty sure is wasn't an airflow issue so I changed the oil to PowerModel 2T. Low and behold tick over now rock steady on my engines at around 1800-2000 rpm which is where I like it. An added bonus is midrange throttling is smoother and almost no residue of the fuz. So it's a winner all round in my book!
Hangar 9 nut
Hi Adrian what ratio do you use in your mix ?
Adrian Smith 1
Hanger 9 nut, Well am using 40/1 mix as a compromise because the PM instructions suggest 50/1 or as per engine manufacturer recommendations which apart from running in the OS instructions are a bit vague.
