ESC blown

Recently swapped the brushed motor in an EDF55 for an inrunner, the blurb quoted 18A max draw but as I only had a 40A spare I stuck that in for the time being.

The thing screamed at full power then the rpm dropped dramatically and the ESC smoked so killed everything and examined the system found the ESC was cooked and on examining the motor the bullets came off the wires and the solder looked corroded, since then have resoldered the bullets and run the motor on a 25 amp ESC at full belt and no problems.

So anybody got any ideas? I am wondering if the badly soldered joints caused massive resistance and thats what zapped the ESC,

regards.           Terry

P.S the EDF55 will be trashed and the motor used for something else.
