Telemetry from FLYSKY iA6B Rx.

A bit specialised, I guess. I have a few FLYSKY iA6B receivers that I would like to use to monitor an external voltage module and an altitude module via the TX. Will the latest receiver firmware allow external voltage, altitude and RSSI to be included in the telemetry?

For info (if anyone else has a similar query).

The external voltage sensor module that plugs into the iA6B (and a iA10B) receivers, works well, subject to a couple of "features". It shows on my FS-i6 Tx and alarm points can be set. It also shows a TSSI (a kind of ranging signal that can be used to locate a model) and internal Rx voltage. These last two features are available on the iA6 receiver also, which is the one usually bundled with in the set.

I outgrew the bargain FLYSKY Tx system and now have the Taranis QX7 on OpenTx via the iRangeX 4in1 module. I have a collection of FLYSKY receivers that I am able to use with the QX7 and would like to use the telemetry.

It seems that the older receivers have a different firmware to the later versions. My QX7 automatically pick up some (or all) telemetry. Some newer Rxs report Extra signal strength and noise ratio values, including RSSI. Those that return RSSI do not return the altitude value but do continue to return the external voltage sensor reading, which is on the same plug-in interface.

I don't particularly need an RSSI value, but OpenTx sees all telemetry as invalid if there is no RSSI value. The sensor readings can still be seen in the telemetry screen, but no switching/alarm features can be enabled. All telemetry screens have a banner message "NO DATA".

I guess that having a vario function might not be the super-duper thing that I wanted, but having all the elements is a little frustrating....

So I will download the latest firmware and hope that all are enabled... if not, it's never going to work....

Not all is lost...I can always buy the FRSKY vario receiver!

The ia6B I think works with the external voltage module FS CVT01. I have that sensor on a 10ch FlySky receiver. The FSia6 (not B) cannot use the external module, but there is a relatively simple hack that allows you to monitor an external voltage instead of the receiver voltage using the built-in telemetry. I found several descriptions of how to do it on forums or blogs which were all a bit complicated as they tried to use the servo header pins as the voltage monitor connectors. If you solder a wire to the board it is a much easier modification: cut one track on the board and solder on two wires for ground and monitor. It works well and the old version receivers are cheaper and lighter.

Thanks for the info.... I had done this mod myself a while ago.

Having telemetry on OpenTx from the iA6B receivers would be "nice to have" as I have several receivers and a couple of sensors. . It already works well for the voltage monitoring (on a receiver that has the latest firmware, so provides RSSI), I've been looking to get the vario working.
