However, watching the flight attempts, it looks to me that the rotors are spinning in the opposite direction to that for which the aerofoils expect! With a helicopter, the rotors are powered and so the airflow through the rotors is from top to bottom. With an autogyro, the rotors are not powered, and it is the airflow moving from bottom to top that causes the rotors to spin.
