Clive Ferguson
Hi all,I have just got a Wot Trainer and a Quantum 4120/05 Motor and ESP.There is nothing in the 'book of words' that gives any help for installing an electric power system. So before I go off on my own sweet way to do it - does anyone have any advice on how to go about it properly?Helllllllllppppppp!
Tim Mackey
Well this may be a start, but funnily enough I am actually working on just such a "dummies guide" article right now. Also, do any of these links help? If not, then post specific questions back in this thread and we will see what we can do.
Clive Ferguson
Hiya,What I was really looking for was info on how to mount the engine & where to put the batteries, things that I am sure you could do with your eyes closed. I have built i/c models before but not a lecci one and as this is a project with my son (12) I don't want to appear to be too dumb!any ideas? Tim Mackey
Well first off its a motor NOT an engine Mounting them depends on the type of err...mount ! Some mount on a firewall similar to IC models, and some come with a sort of spidery thingy to do just that. Others can screw direct to the firewall, some clamp in place, some fit on a stick etc etc. Batteries should be placed wherever there is space that will allow the COG to be correct. Try to avoid long leads from battery to ESC ( and also generally speaking keep the other cables as short as poss too ). I seem to recall that the Quantums came with a spider mount, and a prop shaft adaptor which is screwed onto the main rotor of the motor and the prop fits on it like an IC motor shaft.I think the wot trainer was really meant for IC, so a little alteration / "modelling" will prob be required.
