Satch
While extending the aerial of my F6X something snapped. On looking inside I found the bracket holding the bottom of the whip broken, and the wire connecting it to the electronics detatched. The bracket I can probably fix, but all efforts to identify where on the circuits to solder the wire back - searching the joints on the boards with a magnifier, using logic e.g. "these are coil cans, therefore this is the RF section therefore" - - etc. have failed.I would be grateful if someone could direct me to the point to reattach the wire, perhaps by an image of the innards of a T6X with the wire still connected, or other description. Satch
Gentlemen, thank you.Herewith the scene of the crime, with broken bracket, floating white lead end and selection of solder pads within comfortable range (until the antenna is yanked off upward). Using a simple magnifyer I have not seen evidence of broken off wire, or of an aerial symbol on either side of the bottom board. I haven't seen the other side of the upper boards. I now have IM enabled (you've got a slow thinking newcomer here), and have buzzed flytilbroke.Satch

flytilbroke
On Satch's pic. To the right of the aerial above the bottom board there are black and a white vertical items. Immediately below them is a slightly larger square pad, in an open patch except to its immediate left.

Satch
Flytilbroke's picture gives me my answer - I owe him a pint . This picture is mine with the attachment point arrowedThere's an extra clue here which might come in handy; both FTB's and mine show smears of (?)flux on the pad, which none of the other joints have, suggesting that it was made manually after the board was mechanically populated. Thanks Eric.
