martin taylor 1
Hello all I'm new to the forums, but have been successfully crashing rc models of all types for a few years now. Currently i run a DX6i radio system and have a TREX 450 heli and a GWS ME262 foamie in the hanger. I purely run electric models as IC engines are far too scary. can anyone please help me? I'm looking for flight training in the Portsmouth area of Hampshire. I would like to get the BMFA A cert. I don't have a permanent flying field so would happily join a club in the area who have the time to do flight training. Glad to be here

martin taylor 1
Thanks for the welcome Phil. I've already checked the clubs list for my area but it seems they have limited training facilites unfortunately - some are also only currently taking BMFA A qualified members. If i can get myself to the point where i'm ready to take the test then i can probably join a club no problem. I have no problem paying for some lessons, it's just a case of finding someone who is reasonably local with the facilities.....

Ben Mullins
Hiya Martin, im a member of the Portsmouth and District MAC, website link here: PADMAC Website. Try contacting Ken the Membership manager. Unfortunatley for you, our club has only 39 members, and 2 Instructors. At the moment, 4 of the members are trainee's. Including me . Because our site is near a main road, it is required that the flyer has their 'A' before flying solo. Just so you know, we can't fly RC Heli's at the site. You say you have a ME262 in the hanger, which leads me to think your quite experienced, it may be that you just need a couple of lessons on the rules and safety aspect of things. Still, contact Ken and get yout name put on the list, as im about to take my A within a couple of weeks . Any questions just PM me. martin taylor 1
Thanks Ben, I've sent an email over to Ken, so hopefully i can get on a waiting list. The ME262 is sitting waiting for a maiden flight and i could probably do with someone more experienced for some backup. I've mainly been flying helis for a while and it has been a few years since i last flew fixed wing so i may have jumped in at the deep end. However it's a GWS foamie so no great expense if busted - just a bit different from my old graupner electromax trainer. I've been putting in quite a few hours on the simulator to try to make up the learning curve. If all goes pear shaped i guess i'll just have to buy another trainer. thanks again for the advice.
