Fog Dart
I have ordered one of these lovely kits CLICKY! It appears to come with a brushed gws 40mm edf unit and i would like to convert it to brushless Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which would be a suitable budget motor? Thanks in advance Thomas
Bruce Richards
Thomas I would try one of these I have a spare which I bought for an GWS 55mm fan but it pulled too much current. It should be OK with you smaller fan but you may need to enlarge the hole in you fan.
Dusty
FD do you want it as a EDF or a pusher? I think that model might benifit more as a pusher and be a little hummer IMO with a mirco brushless pusher setup...
Fog Dart
Bruce, thanks for that. Dusty, i would like to keep it as an edf as i have aslo purchased one of these at the same time Clicky!

Ady Hayward
Hi Thomas, I would recomment the Fegaio or Hyperion 12mm inrunners of 4800-5300 rpm/v and use 3 cells http://robotbirds.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=56_11 The 12mm motors do benefit from two heatsinks to keep them from overheating. I would also advocate modifying the rotor to take an adapter to fit to the motor shaft as the push fit rotor once removed will not stay on too well if refitted. GWADP001 on the GWS site http://www.gwsus.com/english/product/other/drive%20shaft.htm is the item I use on my fans.

I have spoken to Julian at GBD and he is sorting me out with a brushless motor instead of brushed so i look forward to seeing how it goes!
