Tim Mackey
Picked this "kit" up a few weeks back, and after some research found that the designed AUW is around 4.5 oz.. I only ever intend to use this bird in extremely light lift conditions of approx 2 mph to 5 mph so decided to try and make it even lighter, and made the following mods.....1) No covering - bare EPP( except balsa elevons - parcel tape covered )2) 4 gram servos ( £2 each from hobby city - been in the bits box for years )3) 3 x 138mahr Vapor Lipo cells in parallel for superlight battery4) Servos positioned well up front rather than in designed location5) Fishing line closed loop for both elevons. To achieve COG the lightening mods have required 23 grams of lead ballast in the nose area ( which will also be covered in white epoxy to re-form the original shape over the lead ) but I am delighted that the end AUW came in at just 3.4 oz The operation of the Spektrum 6100E Rx on just 4.0V is yet to be proven...but bench testing shows all is well, and the average current consumption willbe around 100m/a, and the voltage held at 3.98 under load, so I hope for a good couple of hours at least with calm flying style. Here she is all ready to go. Heres the 1S3P battery I made up from 3 x HC 138mahr Parkzone style cells And heres the gear installed and the nylon closed loop arrangement

Tim Mackey
Rest assured, full post maiden report will be posted as soon as she has flown PS You may struggle to get this version these dyas, it has been superceded by Mk2 which is a mouldie and smaller...yet heavier, so wing loading is higher.
