  1. 2014 June p45 By Graham Taylor, Bucks. Is there a tread about this short article? This is a topic i think is extremely important for clubs around the world. OK - there are clubs for Jet, Large Scale and others that do not want "juniors with limited economy". What to do to find an alternative for "pads" and other screens? Simple cool durable inexpensive... But action - competition - simple things - combat ...? That is something for the clubs!
  2. I hopa that i can count my own built models with ultra micro gear. 1 cell and <50 grams. Started with the Ember II and found that it might be the best indoor model for schooling and "buddy box". Then the PZ Sukhoi, Cub and Blade.
  3. Sorry - found out that a correct drawing will come with the august issue.@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  4. I just got my July number of RCM&E. I wouldreallylike to build the Fournier FR-4   BUT   The draving i got has only Sheet 1 OF 2 printed on both sides............ Am i the only one without the wing section of the drawing?   /Patrik @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  5. From the attic of a club member came an old - "just started" project. It is supposed to be a 10 times scaled single page drawing of an amphibian. The original drawing showed an small enginge mounted on the top of the wing. The approximate measures of the plan i the magazine are: Span 285*10 mm Cord 50*10 mm Length 220*10 mm Is there anyone old enough to remember the name of the plane? Are all the old magazines indexed?
  6. Another Trainer-Pi. This is built as a first plane without ailerons. All built with "depron" foam. And another one in the air :
  7. My first video of the "erratic flying bird". The viddler link is http://www.viddler.com/explore/pgerts/videos/32/  Skip direct to the Piwaka tag if you dont like Control line flying and RTF Wingdragon - Turn down the sound if you dont like the Schrek movie .
  8. Andy I realize that it is "extremely hard" to get planes as Amber fitted with IC I think that the Piwaka would fly just as well with an IC engine without any more reinforcements. I have flewn bigger and lighter planes with cox engines.   The Pee Wee was a really cute engine - but i like the silence of the finer electric setups. There was certainly no larger wood sections in the plans i have in memory and also can be seen at my club.   We are currently converting a CL-plane to electric (400W). I dont think we could have used much lighter design if we had built the plane for electric from the start.
  9. Wrong model memory - happens to the best - but not to Spektrum Lightness is not only for electric - it is for all type of flying - or not ? The Piwaka seems to be a strong model with a sturdy box fuselage. I have made some ply reinforcements for the gear and firewall.
  10. Sorry - all was said i few minutes before
  11. Is the elevator travel same up and down? Do you need some down elevator when you are flying upside down?   Thrust line?   Angle of incidence?
  12. The first Pi is flown and it is a funfly who will loop and bunt just as easily. The second Pi is almost ready. The third Pi is on its way built in 6mm depron and with a "trainer wing" with V-form and no ailerons.
  13. GREAT IDEA with a separate thread för RCM&E projects.   Is it possible to collect the older entries in an easy to navigate structure? Year month name or Name year month   I will try to link my plan threads from older forums - would really like to get the threads moved and renamed.   And sorted by thread name....   2002 dec Aerovan II http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=12974 2006 jan Piwakawaka http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=24269 2008 sep Fling Wing http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=13180 2007 nov Penultimate http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=13727   /Patrik   Edited By Patrik Gertsson on 05/04/2009 08:02:48 Edited By Patrik Gertsson on 05/04/2009 08:03:51
  14. A picture from the Pi project at http://www.mfksnobben.se/images/galleri/pi/piwakawaka.htm   A few weeks - and we will be airborn.
  15. You are probably right - the nose is a little short. We have to build the tail light   I have another idea i have tried om a Kyosho Ferias. I mount the motor on a light 2 mm aluminium U-profile. This will take a lot of abuse - it is that kind of plane or   The mount will also make it easy to move the motor 25 mm forward to adjust the cog.   /Patrik
  16. Tnx for info. We have 2 juniors ( i think more will join the train) in the club who wants to build something "fast". I have come to the same conclusion as you regarding the motor but will go for a smaller battery to save some weight. The wing is to hard for the juniors to build so i have tried to vrap something from 3 mm foam "depron".  Estimated weight for wing with ail approx 100 gms. I cant see any reason why it wont bunt...... The club tread /Patrik
  17. Search on this site and youtube didn´t give any results. Is there anyone out there with some experience? /patrik
  18. 360 people wants an ugly greaser  ...................................'
  19. I couldn´t find anyting when i searched the forum but there must be many readers with expeience of this model. I hope the model will be light to fly indoor this winter. The plan says 8 oz / 230 grams.
  20. My Fling is intended as a test rig for a possible club project. Low Cost - Easy to build - Fun to fly .... 1 pc 6 mm balsa and 1 pc 3 mm balsa This morning was the first flight attempt. I have just seen one film on "the tube" and there was no advanced flying. My first takeoff did not last a second. To little throttle and a slight glide to the ground. A new prop - a few clicks up-trim - a little more power. Away and a little to much up-trim - but not more than just a little. The plane  turned a little when the throttle was changed but i think my 9*6 prop is a little to much. The plane is flying lika a rocket and is easy to glide without power. My mistake was when i tried a little more speed with spin. The Wing was only connected to the fuselage with 4 screws ------- This shold of course has been to ply and not to 3 mm balsa..... The fuslage landed after 2 seconds - the wing after 1 minute. New rudder horns and a ply string at the upper fuse sides - and the Fling will be in the air again. I think next one will be with foam wings, landing gear and 100 cm span (40").
