  1. Hi Tony Many thanks for the very kind offer and I have sent a pm best wishes....Mike
  2. Update From device manager if I double click the unknown device(my usbasp) and select properties I then have 3 tabs. From the 'general' tab it says windows has stopped the device due to problems (error 43) From the 'driver' tab it shows the driver ssupplier as 'microsoft 2006'. From a secondary tab within this page marked 'driver details' it then says no driver is required or has been installed. perplexing to say the least mike
  3. Hi all Tearing my hair out,, so hope someone can help? I have Windows 7 home edition on a a laptop. I have bought the HobbyKing KK2.0 board and their UsbAsp programmer. The board has firmware version 1.2 and I would like to update to v1.5 I expected my laptop to not recognise the usbasp due to not having the correct driver, and also that I would have problems installing a driver due to the current ones online not having a valid signature. I have downloaded from 4 different sources including one that is partially signed and one version that claims to be a fully signed driver. I get the same result with each when trying to update the unknown device driver and that is: Windows says I already have the most suitable driver installed. I get this whethter I let Windows search the net for one or if I direct it to the dowmload folder. The include subfolders option is ticked. If I look at propertiesof the unknown device Window reports that it has stopped the device due to error 23. It also tells me thaat the device has no driver loaded and from a different menu that it has a microsft driver installed. I am unaable to get far enough for Windows to warn me about unsigned drivers etc Can anyone shed some light on this as I only found 1 such reference online and the person posting didnt get a solutioin. cheers....Mike
  4. Hi Pete Thanks and you are right....both my Tx's are DSMX. Still strange why the old 5 channel set would not work though as it binds with everything else and is marked as DSM2....guess it could be an upgrade inside a standard case?
  5. Thanks Alan Must remember to use brain before buying. Only saving grace is they seem quite rare now and one went on ebay recently for a good price so guess I might get my money back now that I know they work thanks....mike
  6. Hiya Thanks for getting back. I had just remembered I still had 1 more transmitter to try, it came with a small blade heli that I bought. Tried that and they both bind ok even though the little transmitter is marked as DSM2 as well The receivers are the old style AR6000 park flyer types and as you say are DSM.I have loads of others both orangerx and Spektrum and they are all fine. It would appear though that they work with some types of DSM2 transmitters as the little £5 one seems to be fine. I should have done more research before buying them. Ho hum....guess they will have to go to the flea bay.....lol Thanks....Mike
  7. Hi all I have just bought 2 used ar6000 receivers hoping to use them with my Dx7s and cannot get them to bind. I have read reports on the net that say these receivers may not work with the newer Dsmx transmitters, so tried my Dx6i which would not bind either. I'm unsure whether my 6i is DSM2 or DSMX so I dragged out an old LP5DSM transmitter and guess what....that too will not bind with either receiver. It is badged as DSM2 Am I looking at an incompatibility problem or are both receivers faulty, which seems unlikely? I thought that the DSM receivers were compatible with DSM2 at least. Both receivers fast flash orange when the bind plug and power are connected and I am going through the same process as I do with all my other receivers. cheers....Mike
  8. Hi all Thank you all for the responses which have given me plenty to consider. It seems unanimous that I use some woven cloth so I will order that, and as for the resin I didnt realise thaat epoxy and polyester resin were different....I assumed they all went under the general banner of glass fibre resins. Thank you Danny for your refernce to the repair you carried out on your Hurricane and for steering me towards the Isopon resin which would be easy to get. From all this then I plan to open up the crack a bit using a cutting disk in the dremel or a needle file and then to carry out the repair from the inside. Whilst repairing I intend to strengthen the wing seat with thin ply resined into place with the repair and finally fill the crack from the outside using resin (and possibly some ground glass matting) . I'll then airbrush the repair to match the film covering Hope this sounds like a plan and once again thank you all for the advice. This really is a great place to learn regards...Mike
  9. Hi all I recently bought a really nice YT International Sea Fury (72" that has had a bit of damage and intend to repair it. The fuse has a crack at the wing seating and needs a glass repair to make it rigid again. This is the first glass fuselage I have examined and I was surprised at how flexible the whole thing is as you can squeeze the fuse and it flexes just as if the whole thing were made of a plastic material. This got me wondering if there is a special requirement for materials for the repair? I was planning on using ordinary resin and wonder what type of cloth/matting would be best (type plus weight per sq/m). I have some glass tissue and chopped matting already (car body repair stuff) but have also seen lightweight glass cloth advertised on the bay? It's not a large repair but important. Any suggestions would be great Mike
  10. Your workshop looks nice and cosy Geoff. I love the feeling of being surrounded by my fave stuff and who needs a heater when you have a valve radio...lol Nice one.....Mike
  11. I guess the proof is in the pudding, and your puddings look fantastic Tim cheerss....mike
  12. Thanks Jon All the usual space eaters are in a 12x8 shed in the garden that doubles as a pump&filter house for the Koi pond. It's amazing the amount of stuff that can be rammed in there! cheers....Mike
  13. Oh well here goes. This is my cosy little bolt hole. It's a single garage which is part of the house so I'm lucky enough to always be warm and rust free !! A view from the door looking down the other wall The main anything goes bench with loads of storage cupboards I like these little proxxon machines and their hand tools are decent too (this is my miniature machine centre) Some little foamies.....yep thats an edf unit on the fox glider....lol And in contrast this monster fills the entire building bench at the moment some bodies and a few more hiding behind the drum practice pads the big bits get stored in here and the small bits in here the most useful machine in the workshop this little fella is the new lathe which is not yet working. Had to sell the Boxford to make space ! Well, thats all folks. These are copies of larger pics in my album Hope you enjoyed the short tour.....cheers....mike
