Hi, sorry for the lack of details. I would want the wing to be 1 metre + with electric power (prefer brushless power), it doesnt have to be really fast or wildly acrobatic just good stall characteristics. Perhaps the Flyingwings slipstream.? I would like to build but dont mind RTF. Any advice very gratefully recieved.

Thanks for the replies all. I love the flying wings v trainer and am now also flying a wing now . Which took some hard knocks trying to trim it. Can anyone recommend a good largish wing with good stall charateristics speed is not important? Also I cant find a flying wing model for FMS has anyone seen one?

You wont go wrong with the flying wings V trainer. Very very easy to fly , fun to fly, will take a pounding and it prepares you nicely for aerolons. Thanks for the great advice Timbo.

Hi, Ive just built and test flown my first flying wing ( just my second model plane). Its a FMA Razor 48". My problem is that it really wants to nose down in level flight and I couldnt trim it out.making my first flights very hairy for a beginer though it was fantastic fun and I landed it seconded time. I applied 2 degrees of up elevator before I started as per the intstructions treble checked the cog which seemed spot on as per instructions.I fitted a brushless motor with a home made motor mount, I tried to guess/ copy the thrust angle from the original 400 mount. My guess is that i got the thrust angle wrong .Should I apply more up or down thrust or change the the cog or just adjust with lots of up elevator? Any advice will be gratefully recieved

Hi Callum, just to say im getting on really well with the flyinging wings V-trainer. I got mine with a 2.4 Spekrum 6xi which i also really like. The v trainer is easy to lauch , fly and land. Its fun to fly and strong if the ground bumps into it. -
First Flight (dont laugh too much)

My 2nd attempt was completly different this evening . 40 minutes of fyling bliss with a beautiful setting sun. The V trainer was a pussy cat, easy to launch ,fly and land. My biggest miskake was to let it get to far away down wind and I struggled to fly it back other than that it was fantastic fun. I got 40 minnutes flying time off one battery. Just hoping for plenty more still evenings, Whoever recommended the flying wings v trainer many thanks. -
Well I noticed at 5.30pm the wind had dropped so I rush home full speeed on my tractor grab my v trainer rush out into the garden for a test glide. wow flies straight and level straight and over the hedge with a little power. Retrieve v trainer grab 6 year old daughter and drive down to the bottom of field . Suns dropping ,quickly reasemble 1 second flight test then I launch half power flies straight and level wow this is just too good , I ease back the stick to climb and yes it dives straight into the ground. 3 second first flight ( Who said the average 1st flight is 7seconds, how stupid did i feel), I repeat 3 times (slow learner). I then decide too reverse servos on the transmitter and relaunch, climbs nicely turn left model turns right ,turn left some more, model turns right ,into ground.I then decided to swap servo leads around but with cold fingers manage to pull one of the tiny servo wires out and that was the end of my first flight.. It seemed so easy on the simulator Lessons learnt 1. Im an imbeccile 2. Get someone too check model. 3. Join club. 4. Take your time 5. v trainer is very strong P.S. Im hooked

Do i need a cell balancer for charging lipo batteries? 2.Should lipo batteries be stored drained or fully charged? 3. Whats the maximum wind speed i should try and fly my v trainer in? Any replies will be gratefully received many thanks William.

Hi, I use FMS with a PS2 type controller so you've got two sticks and you don't need to get your transmitter yet . -
The great Ohm's Law debate

A speed controller does indeed switch the curcuit on off very quickly, thus increasing resistance. I was trying to keep it SIMPLE. Quoting A level physics isnt going to help many people. -
The great Ohm's Law debate
William Halgarth replied to scott cuppello's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
You all seem very confused about what stays constant and what is variable. 1 .a battery has a fixed voltage and a varible current flow. ( But a max Current flow ) 2. a motor has a fixed resistance but the voltage and current can be varied to inrease power output of the motor.( but it also has a max current flow) 3. The esc varies the resistance of the circuit allowing greater/less current to flow. therefore adjusting the motor output. ( but yes this also has max current flow ). If the max current rating of any of the above is exceeded it will get hot . SIMPLE ps Mr A made one mistake later in his reply when he said bigger motors have greater resistance, this is WRONG they have less, therefore they allow greater current to flow and thus increasing power output and thus battery drain is quicker with a bigger engine.
