  1. Hi Jaycee   Just thought you would like to know I have a TT4 and after so many hard landings and flips and near mid air colissions My TT40 is still in one piece and almost three years old now. You can even do somersaults and side flys on a good day. But saying that mthey also fly well in harsh wind with a little weight added in the fuse for stabbility. Im using a two stroke RMX40 engine.  funny though it has a large exhaust pipe and does,nt outweigh or inbalance the model! 'They are tough planes eh! '
  2. Hi Hugh from Steve (Wills)   I was watching that thread on RC groups! of the kyosho spit 50, as I have recently purchased one. and started assembling the wings. It made me think! now b4 I install an enginesay a tiger FS54S as its a lightwieght,  I will have to strengthen the firewall and bulkhead with bits of hardwood and more glue, by the looks of it.  I will also have to  varnish the whole front end of the bulkhead and inside the fuse to strengthen my new spit 50, It seems the manufactureres havent thought of everything eh? (Bloody chinamen) Wot do ya think mate?
  3. Hi All, From Wills   I,ve recently purchased a kyosho spitfire 50, and reading some of your forums I can see there will be some adjustments and parts of the model to keep my eye on! E.G, The firewall and fusalage! and u/c!   My concern is the cowl, it seems to be a little bigger in size than the actual model, if I were to add screws to fit either side of cowl I will possibly end up with a cowl like a figure 8, rather than a nice fit 0, shape I hope you see what I mean?   Im also considering using 3001 futaba servos I have them in my tiger trainer! Are these considered to be standard servos?  And Im thinking of purchasing a 4 stroke FS54S Tiger engine, which is light in weight. And should fit inside cowl without any cutting. And a three blade 11x6 prop! Any ideas or advice can anyone help?
  4.  Yep sure I,d love to win ths little prize camel, unless you wanna give me the hump! Count me in!
  5. Wils Here once again sorry if I missed the last week forum I have a new flat on offer, and moving soon well anyways Im rebuilding a De,ag Spitfire when I say rebuild I mean I striped off all the covering because it started to peel away? And so I thought to myself, rebuild parts of the fusalage underbody and strengthen the wings in areas that need attention. Also having joined the BMFA a year ago I have picked up lots of tips from members too. So Bill Brown 3, or anyone with a de,ag spitfire give me a hoot! I,d like to hear from anyone on the furum who has a spitty. WILLS.
  6. Hi Bill Brown Hows it goin! I found that website you mentioned earlier about my replacing the cowl. And so I looked up CARBONCOPYUK.COM it does feature the de,ag cowl but at £18.00 is a little steep no matter though when Im ready to purchase it I,ll know where to look. meanwhile I,ll see if I can improve the old cowl I have with a little bit of plastic soldering. Im also thinking of plastic bumper painted on the outside of the cowl?Anyone wanting the De,ag Cowl look up CARBONCOPYUK.COM/model planes it,ll be worth it. Anyway bill, Having removed all of the covering on my spit, I am scraping and cleansing the bodywork and adding balsa too the wing panels onto the sides of the fusalage for the wings to support them. Also too fill in this annoying gap under the front wing of the fusalage. (you do recall?)  Once Ive done that then I,ll consentrate on replacing both the elevators as I think they were not long enough also to shorten the "U" shaped pin. on the Elve,s. Learning about modeling from the BMFA I can see the movement of the tail rudder and Elv,s are too wide and long you need only a short movement other wise the plane will flip over in flight.
  7. Hi Sirio May I suggest a really good tip to follow regarding the nose wheel for the tiger trainer 40? It says in the instructions to drill a hole under the fusalage up front and thread a wire cable attached  to the push rod and connect to nose wheel. Dont do this! The cable will bend into an "S" shape and will not steer nose gear. Remove the cable. Look forward of the plane you will see a pre-drilled hole bottom right hand side (facing you) under the engine mount. Cut a slot hole about inch long three mill wide and varnish it.  Put the little black plastic pulley onto the nose wheel stem in between the two collets holding the nose stem.  you should be able to see the plastic pulley move in and out of the slot you just made. Thread the cable through the hole you just made and attach cable to the plastic pulley. This should straighten the cable and adjust it. If you had made a hole under the fusalage close it up with balsa wood and repaint it I hope all this helps!. Wills
  8. Hi Shaun Harris I own a neat Thunder Tiger Trainer N40TT with an RMX 40 Engine it has a large exhaust pipe but the craft is well balanced and flies well with some added extras too. You enquired as to take care of the plastic body work in the summertime well that is easy the answer is BABY WIPES! They moisten the plastic and stop it from curling on the wings! I use the wipes before and after every flight. Also to clean off excessive fuel spills too. And er..use..em myself too! Ha! Ha!.
  9. Hi Bill Well yes it is a fiddly job to iron on the material as I had done it a year ago and yeas thier are blemish,s and bubbles under the covering too. Although as I had said before, this time around I intend to paint the spitty! firstly with a light varnish then smooth it down and then add a matt white as a primer. Then a top coat of matt grey followed by the green patches and then a clear laquer to finish. It will be my first attempt at this too. I used to build airfix kits as a boy I know this is different but a challenge eh!    Oh yes!, Did you check out the tiger FS54 Engine Rather neat Eh? You seem to have one or two ideas Bill, I don,t recall are you a member of a flying club?
  10. Hmm a charging point seems a good idea I,ll keep it in mind? Say bill can you tell me wot is this depron material is it any good?
  11. Deagostini spitfire Can anyone fill me in on some info? What is Depron? Is it a covering like this solofilm or wot? And has anyone heard of these flat packed servos? They might be useful in rebuilding my spit! One more question What are the natural colours for the supermarine late model? Any Ideas anyone?
  12. Quickly now the missusis coming! Can I hide the bloody thing in yer van mate!
  13. Cheers Bill Thanks for the info! well Im off to a visit at the new Als hobbies store in Bristol. Also I am considering putting a servo on each of the spitty wings for the aileron movement and insert inside and cover each one with an air intake/ventilator under each wing and made from balsa and ajoined  to the ailerons. A neat Idea, I think! It,ll be a better Idea than making holes in the wings and then try to insert and cover the wings. I hope you know what I mean? The idea came from watching a model supermarine spitfire warbird fly at yeovil fleet museum and I came up with the Idea! I will need to purchase a Y lead too. I hope it all works well it.ll keep me occupied over xmas too. One last thing (although no thoughts on it yet!) I will possibly consider retracts too (Although rather early to decide yet) one step at a time eh?
  14. Hi Bill Thanks for info on website I will try it, Im curious to know? Had you encountered many problems when building your spitty? I was dissapointed when I recieved the code 4 remote and servos they,re cheap and nasty! So fortunately for me I did,nt bother to order the naff looking Leo Engine. My club members recommend a Tiger FS54 four stroke Engine. And so do I, And I have a copy of it from Al,s Hobbies website. Im saving for one to add onto the spitty next year.  Im still working on the rebuild of my spitty as there are flaws to correct. MAY I RECOMMEND TO ANYONE READING THIS! PLEASE JOIN THE BMFA MODEL FLYING CLUB OR A SIMULAR CLUB. you will have lots of fun meeting members and learn a lot about model flying, and pick up some neat tips on building a model too.
