  1. I had a similar idea in mind, and having got hold of the kit have yet to start the build. Going for an electric set up so am interested as to how yours works out. My original (40 years ago)Matador also ran on a 1.5 diesel with single channel control on the rudder. When you fit your motor make sure you work out where the thrustlines need to be. The original model (and plans?) set the model up for free flight and I followed this with my single channel set up originally. Very good for flying in tight circles one way and just about straight the other !!!. Once the thrust was altered it flew OK till it had a coming together with some hay bales about the size of a bungalow.
  2. Steve, Thanks for the info. Looks to have more of the sites I would have expected for this area. Just need to get out there now
  3. Just had a look at the slopehunter site, is there one for the NW of england as some of the places around Preton I thought might be used are not on it,.
  4. On the back of a HGV that was covered in muck was written " I wish my girlfriend was this dirty"   Interesting problem whilst stopped at trafic lights that had a sign peak time lights. What are they the rest of the time???
  5. Hasn't made it to Preston yet either, but the post lady battled through the snow to deliver more Sky offers.......   Looks like a good read over the hols assuming it makes it
  6. Would be nice to see something that isnt military so how about   Airspeed Ambassador   Bristol freighter   vickers viscount   Plenty of multi engined challenges with that group
  7. I'm with those who think the ORIGINAL Flight of the Phoenix has to be the best. What more could you want...an RTF crashes and a modeller gets to rebuild it into something that flies and rescues people. Has to be an inspiration to us all.   Lots of rubbish films like Pearl Harbour and Firefox   Forgot about the one with the US carrrier that goes back in time... nice shot of F14 splashing a zero with an AAM. rest of the film was a bit iffy though which is probably why I cant remember what it was calledEdited By Paul Hartley on 07/01/2010 22:09:42
  8. I think this club versus solo issue is a key thing for many people particularly those returning to the hobby after many years. Assuming they have kept some of the basic skills from things like control line and earlier single and multi channel models they should be able to pick it up provided they have somewhere to fly.   Thats where the club aspect offers a benefit, but prising your way into one and then getting enough stick time with a "buddy" to satisfy the rules can be something of a challenge.   Tom has a valid point with the join a club and go with the flow view, but I would suggest some research first just to make sure there is a flow otherwise its money not well spent.   Whichever route then I guess BMFA membership is a must...
  9. Still not sure that there needs to be an award for posting, but it should be based on quality not quantity. Maybe need a star rating system against posts from people, but that would take a lot of time and effort, which would be better spent on actually building and flying ....   Whats your views....
  10. Looks like there are points for both sides of the argument here.... However whats the objective of posting to a forum, to win prizes or get give help to others. I find the info on a range of things really helpful, but dont often post on stuff.   Maybe if you want to win something you should try Bingo  Personally I would like to see the help and discussions continue
  11. Best high street retailer - Al Hobbies good deals  Best mail order supplier - Giantcod by a long way       then BRC Best UK distributor - Pass Best Kit - Multiplex cub   Based on posts so far it looks like a wide range of good responses in all categories...Sign of a healthy hobby.
  12. Apologies for appearing to cross post but I wanted some help for the easy cub set up and also for the P51. Although it's interesting that the answer could be the same for both. Either way thanks forthe help
  13. Thanks for the info. Had a look at the website and looks a good deal. Need to get the card out
  14. Have just picked up an easycub at half price and was looking to get it up and running with my existing gear, but didn't want to fork out for the multiplex moter ; esc; battery set up as it seems a bit expensive, but trying to work out what you can use instead seems like a mine field. Anyone tried something that works?
  15. Have just picked up a PZp51 at knockdown price with standard motor and no radio gear etc. Planned on putting my existing gear into it , but buying a esc and battery pack just for this model.  Not sure what to buy now having read all of the above. Not planning to use it till get some time on my easy cub and twin star though.
