  1. mode 2   n.yorkshire   s.e. london   self taught with a few pointers from friends   I learnt to fly at croydon airport and epsom race course, flying mode 1, as everybody (more or less) flew that mode.  I changed to mode 2 about 5 years ago, as most of the RTF models are that mode.  I have always been able to fly both modes so that I could help out newcomers.  Now though I fly more or less exclusively on mode 2.  So I flew mode 1 for about 30  years.         There was always a N. S divide,  south prefering mode 1 and N mode 2,  but I think that has now changed because of the RTF preferance of modern modelers.        Good luck all and smooth landings.    Bob (York N.Yorkshire)
  2. Hi All         I have a question, not really regarding the aerodynamics of a lanc downside up.    What happens if you are in that position and the bomber crys   "Bombs Away"  Now you really understand what praying is all about and that adrenalin really is brown ...Edited By Bob S on 20/09/2009 19:09:32
  3. Hi All         Myself and friend have just got the 3 cell version.  I have found you need 20/20 vision for this one.  We have been flying amoungst other things the phase 3 phantom, which can be flown at a good distance out, but this one.  Let me put it this way, it eats up the sky so quick, and the roll rate on the high movements is just a blur, so in the blink of an eye it is a speck.  Maybe it's just my age or maybe I should have gone to specksavers.       Ours are not fitted with the VT yet.  We have them, but thought it might be a good idea to try it without first.  Which seems to have been the right decision in my case anyway.   For anyone thinking of getting this kit.  1) it's very quick to build 2) just stick the tail pipe on with tape, get used to it, and then cut the fus rear and fit VT 3) Phase 3 have got this one rught,  IT HAS A RUDDER 4) Do Keep the nose high on landings.  There looks to be a week spot, where the             air intake is situated. 5) It's not for begginers or the faint hearted 6) Now when can I get out again?                                 Bob S (G0PMI)

Hi one and all,            This is just by way of an update.  The tx worked fine for a few weeks,  not flying, just switching on every now and then each day.  Always green light on rear went solid after a second.  (weather has been too bad to fly anyway)  But then,,,  One day the other week I swithched on and the green light just blinked very quickly.  Plugged in a jack into the buddy socket, took it out and green light solid.  So needless to say I did send it back to HH on Tuesday  (Still under warrenty)  The tx turned up Friday, with the report :- fault replicated on bench.  Action :- new Transmitter.   What about  3 days  For a return.  Fantastic service...  They sent a new instruction manual as well.  Wonder! are they trying to tell me something?       Well all thats left is to programme it up for my hangar of planes  about 9 !!     Instructions might come in handy after all.  I had to send a new futty back a number of years ago.  IT TOOK THEM 2 WEEKS TO RETURN..     HH seem to have everything up to spek    (OOOPPSSSS Sorry)             Good luck all              Sleep tight and fly better                   Bob (G0PMI)

Hi One and all,                  Yes I have to agree with you all.  It is the only sensible thing to do, but you know what it's like (Or at least it is with me) you try to look for something quite obvious first, at times I can be really daft and do daft things, and I suppose I was just hoping that this would be one of those.  Programming finger problem   If you get my drift                Bob (G0PMI)

Hi Phil         many thanks for the reply.  Yes I think you may be right, however the fault is so itermittent that I think it will take a long time to trace.  I thought it might be dirt in the buddy box connecter, not allowing the contacts to reconnect, but I think that may be a no go.  Thanks for help anyway.  Any sugestion anyone has, I would still be interested.            Cheers                 Bob (G0PMI)

hi all,         Many thanks for reading this.  I have a little problem with my dx7 tx.  I was out flying (a while back, when we had some summer days !!) my  precision aerobatics Katana, I had a couple of flights.  Recharged the batt and set to for another sortie, switched on tx, connected batt in plane.  Nothing, no control or solid light, Nothing.  Tryed another model, same thing.  I then noticed that the green light on rear of tx was not comming on .   Home I went, then decided to try flight sim worked perfectly, but thats not all when I disconnected the tx from comp and switched on tx, green light came on. Everything now worked as it should do.  However after 4 weeks or so, I was setting up a glider (ready for the nice weather   when I lost all control.  Yet again no r.f. output.  Any help would be gratefully received.  I am now getting worried, this might happen while in flight.           Bob (G0PMI)
  8. Well said pete savva,  some find it hard to live without problems, getting in the way   Still summers coming.  I wonder does that mean, long days light winds and dare I say Sunshine..
  9. David ashby            I will do just that David, when I have been able to get out (the weather you know)   Anyone got a pocket full of sunshine ?    Good luck all, and may all your ups and downs be controlled.
  10.  Hi Timbo.          Thanks for info.  Sorry about the change of thread,  I will put that right.      the rx and tx has no other marking but Efly.  I will start a new thread, as soon as I have done a little field testing on the 2.4.         Cheers again.    Apologies.                         Bob S (York)
  11. Hi All.        Strange to say I have the Art-Tech  Euro, and it also needed alittle touch up (with paint I mean)   It is a ready to fly model, with everything including:- 2.4 gig cheepo set-up.  rx has no satellite, back to this soon.  As they had decided it would be a good idea to use clear tape to hold some parts in place (for transit) When I removed it, it also removed the silver paint..  Oh Lord.  Anyway a tube of Reeves acrylic  (the works,  Craft shop)  sorted the problem.  (I hope)              Back to the 2.4 gig system, has anyone had experiance of this type of system.  I'm a little worried about range etc, and so have replace it with a 35 meg RX so that I can use my Futaba comp TX.  I am just putting together a cheap foamy to try out the 2.4 and will report back.  The Euro has yet to fly,  but I will also report back on how good or not it is.   I fly at the mo, a phase 3 fantom EDF which screams around the sky and flys as if  the rails, have been transported from Dusties place to mine.  No rudder, but still quite aerobatic.             Right bye for now all, will let you know how I get on with the 2.4 and the euro's maiden flights.             Good luck one and all,   May all your ups and downs, be controlled.                                    Bob S (York)
  12. Hi all.   I Have only just come in, and all I can say is ....................  Wow !!!    Why try to make problems, this world is already full of them.  We don't need more.   All this argument really comes down to one unmistakable point.                  The law as it stands is quite sufficiant, to make sure that law abiding users of FPV are not really able to go wondering off into controlled air space or tickling the bottom of the space station.  Of course the reason for this, is, that the output power of the on board tx is restricted to 10 mw.                 So I think we can rest assured that the police, armed services, parking attendants, and terrorists will not even take a second glance at the kit available to Rc,er's.  If they want it, then they will have it, but it will be putting out a good deal more power (or of course be satellite linked)   I am also very sure that the law surrounding the use of this type of equiptment will not be of interest to terrorists etc.        After all does the person who steals a car for "getaway"  think  "OOps I don't have insurance to drive this car, and thats against the law"         Don't worry, sleep well, and fly better               Bob  (G0PMI)  (Radio Ham)
