  2. I have been flying just 2 years and like you well past bus pass age..! How many others have taken up the hobby as a new challenge in retirement? Perhaps we should start a new thread a see how people have found this new, and far from easy challenge. I found it difficult not being from the computer game age.Edited By andrew wise 2 on 24/01/2010 12:25:03
  3. Having now looked at the correct part of the forum I have uploaded a couple of pics of the Phoenix Tiger Moth. The sercret to the struts is making sure they are the right way up, ie. flats at the top rounded end to the bottom. The position of the fixing brakets on the wings for the struts is a bit of trial and error. If you need any help I can give you the dims. from mine to give you a starting point. IMHO if you want a good plane for your 46 forget the bipe and put it in a WOT 4, you'll get a lot more flying out of it. The Tiger Moth is for a very calm day!Edited By andrew wise 2 on 22/01/2010 18:35:28
  4. Hi Sorry I'm a little late entering this thread. I built the Pheonix Tiger Moth last year. It looks very good when finished and flys a treat, I have a SC 52 4stroke in mine. There certainly is an issue with info re wing struts, in fact you will see I have a couple of posts on the forum regarding this. However I sorted it in the end. It is a bit of a fiddle getting the wings on and off with the bracing wires. If you send me a PM with you mail address I will send some pics. I'd put them on here if I knew how to do it! If you want any more info on it let me know and I will help if I can, but the way I've been flying lately I've a mind to give up and take up something less expensive, knitting perhaps.
  5. I am just about to finish putting together my 60"P51 Mustang. It looks good but all to new looking. Does any have any good hints and tips on how to add that weathered used look particularly aroung the exhaust stubs. guns, and off the back of the wing roots etc.Thanks.Edited By andrew wise 2 on 10/01/2010 13:57:56
  6. A belated Happy New Year to you all. Like a lot of you I suspect, I am hiding away indoors fiddling with models and looking at kits which have been sitting on the bench since I brought them at a swap meet and done nothing with them. Anyway to the problem. I am puting together a 58" ARTF P51 with mechanical retracts. Everything has gone together well I have fitted a HiTec Retract servo. Does anyone have a good tips for setting these up because I am having one hell of a job to make them work well. HELP.
  7. Thanks for all the great advice. Now it's to cold to go outside I have spent some time on this engine following your advice, ie. I didn't strip it right down but cleaned and checked every thing. It's running fine now, like you say, tough little devils. Thanks for your help.
  8. I am putting together a ARTF WOT Trainer, simple you might think, it might be if the instructions told me what I need to know. The engine bearers on the two part mount are offset from centre but the mount will fit either way up. My question is which way round should the mount be fitted. One way raises the engine about 12mm higher than the other. All you guys who are flying the WOT Trainers which way round have you fitted it?

    SC 46

I have unfortunately recently stuffed my excellent SC46 into the soft ground. Having carefully cleaned it there now appears to be a bit of a tight spot at top dead centre, the engine has run a few hours and was very smooth, I want to remove the crankshaft to check if there is any muck inside causing this or if there is a more serious problem. Having taken the back plate off all apprears OK. Can anyone help please, how do I remove the crank from the crankcase, is the bearing just a push fit? Thanks
  10. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question but hey! here goes. I have a 80" Mick Reeves Hurricane It was given to me I guess it was built a few years ago. It is fitted with mechanical retracts no servo, I'm not sure of the all up weight of the aircraft, Can anyone help with what servo I should fit etc. Changing to air retracts I do not belive is an option due to the contruction of the foam core wing around the retract bay I think I have to go with what I've got if possible. Thanks for your help
  11. Thanks, repaired it as suggested, solder and heat shrink, appears to be OK the proof will be when I fit it in my WOT4 and tear about the sky.
  12. Can anyone help me. I have  a Futaba 35mkz receiver on which the antenna wire is broken leaving about 300mm. Am I able to repair this using any thin suitable copper wire solidered to the existing to restore it to its length of 1mtr or do I need a special type of wireEdited By andrew wise 2 on 25/10/2009 11:14:26
