  1. My back has been playing me up for the past few days so I have had a rest from house renovations and have done some more work on the Hawk: I am going to install a Dr MadThrust Afterburner as I have one needing a good home. Also printed some ejector seats and control panels. More later...
  2. Hi Adrian, Inkscape will import/open pdf files. I then create a new layer for each part and I use the bezier tool to trace it. It is helpfull to reduce the opacity of the pdf to about 30%, this makes it easier to see where you are drawing lines. There is a useful tutorial here. Hope that helps.
  3. House renovations are still ongoing but I have managed to profile the leading edge of the wing and print off some pilots. More later (as and when I can squeeze it in)... P.S. How is yours coming along Dan?
  4. Are they the same Oleos that Nick used - 169mm HobbyKing jobbies?
  5. Laser Jon, If you are still tuned into this thread - what size Oleo's did you use for your sprung undercarriage? Many thanks. Geoff...
  6. It's on the previous page Martin. Final weight is 804g (28.3oz) all in. I have been playing with the cheat hole to maximize the thrust. 1. 49x35mm hole (as per plan) gave 500g of thrust. 2. 49x45 hole gave 525g of thrust. with top hatch removed this increased to 590g 3.49x49 hole gave 540g of thrust with top hatch on. I was using a 3s 2200mah 50c battery.
  7. Well, thought I would try for a maiden flight today as I had a flying buddie with me who was happy to hand launch for me. The first few attempts were failures just straight to the ground. I then took the top hatch off and after a couple of more attempts we managed to get it away and had a 3 minute flight whilst tinkering with the trim. It does get small very quickly!. After that we had another half dozen or so attempts with a fresh battery - all failures. Conclusion - needs a bit more work.
  8. Hi Tim, I have probably had about a dozen or so flights with mine. Mine needs to fly with a bit of up elevator trim so I may have not got the wing incidence quite correct (balance seems OK). That said, I am really enjoying flying this one. I built it with a mind to practising for my 'B' cert at some point and I think it is well suited for the job.
