  1. When you say 3/4 inchs what about the thickness off the wheel as the one i got was about 3/4 inchs but the problem is that it is not thick enough to steer on a grass runway.   Alan
  2. I was out flying at the weekend and on my final flight i noticed that my tail wheel had come off.   Does anybody know what size off wheel i would need for a WOT4. A friend at the club give my one but far to small and was unable to steer   Thanks AlanEdited By Alan on 15/03/2010 11:52:45
  3. Hi Eric   I had an irvine.40 and also a irvine.46 in my tutor 40 both fly great brilliant little engine and if buget can afford it go for the .46 instead  you will not regret it.   Alan Edited By Alan on 26/02/2010 18:17:51 Edited By Alan on 26/02/2010 18:19:12
  4. Hi Mark can't wait to see your new blog.   finally got all the fuel out of my plane. New fuel tank and Rx battery installed and I got a couple flights today .   Alan
  5. hi all, looking to get a new plane and had my sights on a "black horse Katana 60"  but having trouble to get any info on it.   Has anybody ever had this plane what did you think about it.   Also does black horse have its own Web site to see the spec or even the manual .
  6. And i thought my day was bad.   I think Darryl has won first prize for the worst day   .    Edited By Alan on 28/01/2010 19:54:06
  7. OPPS Yes i completely forgot about the on/off switch like the servos and Rx it looks as if the casing got most off it. Taken everbodies suggestions into account I think i'll bin the battery it is just not worth it.    Once i clean the balsa wood up what would be the best fuel protector to use. I heard people saying that yacht varnish does a good job.
  8. The bung loosened most likely due to vibration, but for my own piece of mind i am going to change the tank. Still in two minds what to do about the battery also the servos got a bit wet too cleaned the fuel off hopefully they should be OK.
  9. thanks i'll give the talc and meth ago. I think i'll just bin the battery also what would be the best tank to fit heard some good and also some bad reports about Slec tanks but nothing about Dubro tanks.
  10. Was able to take apart the Rx the inside did not get soaked it was just the casing that got it as for the battery it got a realy  bad soaking not to sure about it.   The plane is not as bad as first thought will talc draw out the oily fuel from the balsa wood.  Do you just pour it round the affected area and leave for a day or two ??Edited By Alan on 25/01/2010 18:12:46
  11. Thanks BEB   Might have a problem taking apart the Rx as it is a sealed unit. But hopefully dry everything else out.   Alan
  12. First flight of the year everything going well ( famous last words)  when all of a sudden my undercarriage decided to land before the rest of the plane, was able to get rest down in one piece . Then when fixing undercarriage i noticed a fuel leak when i say leak i mean the servo bay was soaking in fuel.   Would the servos, battery and also the Rx be ok?.  Got a bit off a soaking The plane is the new ripmax WOT4 i think it might be a bit late but should i fuel proof it or would that all ready be done by manufacture .   Also what would be the best way to dry it out.   Thanks Alan
  13. Posted by Jonathan Lewzey on 29/12/2009 09:52:51: bossanova might be a good chice, but the fuselage side area is minimal and as its ripmax it'll probably be overpriced and not good quality. If you do get one, i'd advise you to convert it to electric.  Hi Jonathan had a look at your plane "Hyperion Edge 540" what is the build quality like on it and would it be a good mid wing starter plane.
  14. Hi Had a look at the tango and it seems very good but i am flying a WOT4 at the minute and am very happy with it. So i thought the next stage in the learning was to go for a low/mid wing plane. Thanks  Ralph on the good and bad points of the Bossanova.   What is the difference between mid wing and low wing when doing 3D flying.   Alan
  15. Had a look today at a few web sites and saw the ripmax Bossanova , what would that be like as a starter in mid wing/3D  flying.    Thanks for all the suggestions.   Alan
  16. Hi I have been flying now for about 1 year and am looking to progress into 3D flying what would be the best mid wing plane to learn in, so many different ones.   Can anyone recomend a good plane   Thanks Alan
  17. Just started to build the WOt4 form ripmax and have already ran into a few problems firstly the wing nut was damaged when being fitted, secondly the there is far to much movement in the rudder when I installed the closed loop most likely i have done sometheing wrong. But  I read an other theard on the forum with the same problem, and they replaced the closed loop with a snake. Would you need to fit a snake to either side of the rudder as it is done in the closed loop or  just fit it to one side.   AlanEdited By Alan on 06/11/2009 19:32:19
  18. Hi David   thanks for your quick reply i think i well go for the Y-Lead it sounds less complicated and as for my flying ability i only started the hobby in June so i do not expect much.   When using a Y-Lead if both servos are a mirror image of each other would both eilrons not travel in the same direction.
  19. Hi Folks   Just after buying the new WOT4 and am already having problems with it and i have not even tried to fly it yet. This is the first time i have experienced two servos in the ailerons.  What would be the best way to connect them, my local model shop sayed to use a Y- Lead but reading on here using CH's 1 & 6 is better. I have read my manual on my radio gear( Futaba 6EX) and i am now even more confused.     Can someone please HELP
  20. Thanks everybody that replyed have had a look at most of the sites and books,  should be a great help.   Now for the hard part actual doing them   Alan
  21. Hi all   I have been flying for about 7 -8 months and so far everything going well( touch wood) .   My next stage in flying is aerobatics but have limited knowledge in it, is there a good book for beginers in 3D & aerobatics to show the different types of manoeuvres and how to preform them.   thanks Alan
  22. Thanks for your replies first of all the BATT are NiCd they are ripmax sanyo (0-4K1100AAUWF).   After the half hour the charger showed that the voltage was at 7.2v this was on the 1100mAh BATT.Edited By Alan on 20/09/2009 19:40:01
  23. Hi tried my range check in an open area and distance was greatly improved.   Last question and probably a daft one  does the to 2 aerials on a 2.4GHz Rx have to be on the outside off the aircraft or can the be stored inside the fuselage.   Thanks Alan
  24. Yes the arial was pointing straight up and no i have not retested it yet as it has been raining every night this week hopefully i will be able to test it tomorrow.
