  1. Len, I used a Slec 9oz yellow tank in mine. It has got the center line down a bit, but not a lot. The designer TN used the the inverted SC, and has not reported any engine problems etc. I have a Perry Pump that I might fit if I get flooding problems etc. My build is a bit slow, there are some pictures on my web site www.hugho.co.uk .Of interest I have been using a Master Airscrew 11x7 three blade prop on my 5lb aerobatic Galaxy Magician, with an SC52FS (mounted vertical) and the 9oz tank. I get easily 10mins flight times with this set up, so in the Lizzie it should be just fine. HughP
  2. Terry, thanks, yes I had considered it, but went with TN's original. MT, Agreed, the 11oz tank is too big and have gone for the 9oz Slec and it indeed does bring the centre down. HughP
  3. Being aware of getting the weight forward I have elected to go for a 5 cell RX batt pack. I thought a better way of mounting it would be the method shown in the picture. It will have a lite ply cap on it to protect from fuel ingress. Using the SC52FS inverted I was going to use an on board glow switch and sub 'C' cell to give a better idle. I'm worried about flooding as the needle valve is below the centre line of the tank, but location is a bit of a problem. I could use a Perry Pump that I have got, but never used. Anyone any thoughts? Normal engine set up, on board glow or the Perry Pump. I know the original by Tony just used the SC inverted and he made no remaks as to poor running, so I may have answered my own question!! Hugh P

  5. Looks like there is a formating proplem now. I think Jonners table may have upset it! Hugh P
  6. Jonners, I have gone the IC way had a SC52FS so had to use it. Terry, I have a glow switch and sub C batt to get in, to ensurea reliable idle for the inverted engine and was looking at the space between F2 & F3. I already have the RX batt on the firewall, so no room there. I wanted to avoid the removable canopy as I think there may well be problems with the canopy splitting due to vibration. I have had this before and on ABS so I will be linning the cowl with 1/2 oz glass cloth and superglue to strengthen it up. I remember seeing somwere on the thread a picture with the canopy screwed on, but I can't find it. Oh if only there was a way of searching the thread, theres so much good stuff here. 7. Welcome to the group Jonners, I am not much further on than your build, I am trying to find a good way of making a couple of side hatches between F2 & F3 for extra bits. Look for Marios threads he has used some great ways of building that improve the build. Regards Hugh P
  8. Hi all As there has not been a post for a while I thought I would send a festive greeting to all. Must admit to little photoshop work as the photo was taken in the summer!! Hugh

  10. Hi all, Is it me or are there some pages missing of the thread. I'm sure it was up to page 47, because I have been saving them to USB stick to put them on my workshop PC (no internet). The pages are really useful, but I must admit given the chance I would not undertake the Lysander again. It must be one of the most time consuming projects I have ever done. Then there is the ABS parts (ugh) and the inability to get decent dural for the U/C. I think this should have been an option with the Plan/Pack etc. Now I have got to redesign the mount so that a replacement can be put on without cutting back the fuz etc. Oh well  - KeepCalm, Don't Panic. Hugh
  11. Hi Bucksboy I have been looking online at these retracts and they seem good value. (Ripmax F-SKYRM03). There is not very much info on them. Any chance of replying with some gen? the dimensions would be most usefull. I'm sure your problem is something I wonder if you have got it sorted. Regards Hugh
  12. Will F I guess there are plenty of Warbirds with a narrow gait, so I think it's a case of 'go for it'. The Laser 70 is sitting there just begging to be used. Phoenix is great but as you say Sims can never really emulate the model. HughP
  13. Jim As for the RX pack, I'm going for a 6v Hump pack (3+2) and I'm just about to mount it on F1 in the same place as the plan, the only difference is I'm going to cut a hole in F1 and make a lite ply box and put the battery END ON so that it is up against F2. This will give a slight adjustment for the Cof G, as the pack will be able to slide in & out. I also plan to put a single sub C  (3200ma) clipped in with two 22mm pipe clip at the side for the glow and the SM Services Glow switch will be mounted on the side under a hatch. I do like to be able to get at things. I think the tank is going to have to be built in though. With all that extra weight at the front I've decided to go down the Solartex route. HughP
  14. All With regards to the U/C, I know it has been racked forward to help with the nose tipping over, but are there any other vices due to the narrow width. When I fly the Spit in Phonix Flt Sim I often get a rocking from one main wheel to the other on landing, just wondering if the TN Spit does the same. I havn't brought the plan/pack yet so it not to late back out, but I do need somthing for my Laser 70 and this Spit seems a good way to go. Regards HughP
  15. ALL Has any one finised their Lysander with Black Solatex? If so did you apply a fuel proof tuffcoat or similar? What was the all up weight? Did you need to add ballast? Sorry for all the questions, but with the nationals coming up I need to make my mind up on the finishing so I can buy everything there. Regards HughPEdited By Hugh Philps on 24/07/2010 11:58:38
  16. I never got to Duxford last Saturday, too busy with set construction for 'Anything Goes'. I will be at Shuttleworth for the Mayfly weekend, so Ill get some wheel pants & tail wheel photos then. Any one else going Must find some Blue Foam, never heard of it before. HughP
  17. Hi all I will be at Duxford tommorow (sat) does anyone want specific photos of the Lysander (it is hung from the roof)  for detail, or anything else for that matter? HughP
  18. Mario I like your methods very much, you have saved me a lot of thinking.   Terry I have bent up a new U/C using the aneal method, when the temp is right, it is so easy. Thank you.   All What glue is best for Balsa to ABS & any ideas on what type of glue/sealant to use for Ali/Balsa. I doubt if Marios product is available in the UK.   This is a fantastic forum, thank you all. HughP
  19. Terry The Duxford Lysander has been in the roof of the Air Space Hanger since it opened about 6 or so years ago. The Concorde, Vulcan & Lancaster are also in there. On entry, Concorde is difficult to spot there's that much in it! Out of interest I photographed this Lysander in about 1985. About 20in span & for rubber, it was that impresive that the owener, Roy Norris of Melksham Models, who accuired it, decided to keep it in an uncovered state! Hugh
