    stuck bearing

Graham I tend use gas mark 3 325 f if that does not work then gas mark 4 350 f for 20 minutes. How hot should I go. The engine is smoking when I take it out. Never normally have this problem Mike

    stuck bearing

Well the idea is a sound one but it did not work, the bearing still will not pop out. I think it must be stuck in with old castor varnish. Maybe a solvent to break down the castor gunk first would help, any ideas Thanks Mike. Edited By MikeS on 28/12/2014 08:25:55

    stuck bearing

I tried to remove the bearings in my asp fs 1.20 today that I am rebuilding but no joy. I've changed a few over the years in various engines and do not normally encounter a problem. Tried heating for 20 mins at 325 but no joy and then a further 20 mins at 350. Then tried cooling then heating but still not coming out. The engine was second hand and I think the bearings have been in the there for a while. Does anyone know if you can get a bearing puller for our engines. Think that might be they way forward. Mike

  6. Gutted is how I feel right now and not just for me but also for my fellow club mates. We thought this might happen but not for a few years. Apart from the flying side it would be sad to loose the friendships of the other club members if another site is not found. Doug and the rest of the committee have worked had on the club and made it fun and fair for all to enjoy. Unfortunately as a club we cannot compete against this planned proposed building project. 7. Had to dismantle the engine and clean it out. Found dirty mud residue in the carb inlet so did not want risk fod in the cylinder and liner. With the head off found it full of water but no dirt. Any how its all clean now apart from a small circlip that needs to replaced. Mike

  9. Took the Stuka up to tday for a couple of flights. First flight she tracked straight on the takeoff run but rolled a little once the wheels left the ground. Jon I am thinking of a little more side trust as you suggested. General flying the elevator was not as sluggish as I thought. The CofG weeks about right. On landing on the second flight I unfortunately found a large water logged area to touch down on and it flipped straight on its back with a splash of water. The engine is soaked and mud covered so needs a good clean inside and out. Mike
  10. Seeing my Stuka finally fly was one of the best highlights for me. Mike
  11. Some interesting comments. Jon I set the CofG slightly nose heavy but found balancing it quite hard compared to other war birds so had concerns. My comment was unfounded as it was not pitch senative but rather sluggish on elevator. I think the aileron throws might not be equal which I will recheck as I know this is one possible reason for the tail sliding in the turn. Later flights where I had got used to it were a lot better. As for tail heavy being my first BH model I cant say. However my Stuka had its cockpit detailed by the original builder and might explain some of the 490g of st Mary's in the nose. Mike
  12. Warched the last few series of this. Great show. Mike
  13. Charles no not on this flight. I did try them on the second flight but they caused the Stuka to dive so before the third flight added some up elevator mix. I need to dial it in on the next flight. Thanks Terry I'm glad of the video as everything seemed to happen fast on the first flight. I think it is setup right but did slide its tail a little so need to check the aileron throws are equal. Mike
  14. Thanks John. I passed my test back in 1994 and the first thing I did was drive in to town on my own, loved it. Mike
  15. Alas no. The Tutor suffered damaged due to the nose wheel spat digging in and ripping out the firewall. It needs fixing but the Stuka is hogging my time right now. Mike Edited By MikeS on 07/11/2014 21:05:34
  16. She brought a sxi Corsa Hmmmm yes like the van idea. Wonder if she would notice if I swapped it for a corsa combo. Mike
  17. Well daughter Jessica passed her driving test today. Very proud of her as she had her first driving lesson six months ago on her 17th birthday. She saved up and brought her car, insured it couldn't ask for more. MikeEdited By MikeS on 06/11/2014 15:19:56
  18. Thanks Doug, Terry. Looking forward to seeing the video of the first flight. Lol I was holding on to the tx sticks for dear life until Doug reminded me to trim it out. Mike
  19. Not been for a few weeks but got out last Thursday, flew the P40 B and maidened the BH Stuka. Good days flying. Mike
  20. Its been a while but the Stuka had its maiden flight last Thursday. Finally got everything sorted out on it. Setting the ailerons level to the wing was interesting but got it done. Fitted a 15x8 prop for this flight and needed to add six 70g strips of lead to the nose to get the CofG at 90mm. Flew great will little trimming needed. Happy days. Mike
  21. Good choice of kit Jan, have a good read through the thread as a few things have been highlighted about the build with a few things to strengthen and things to change to help the kit build. Mike

    DX8 help.

Have ordered a couple of the Turnigy lipos, very good price. Had a look at the settings in the DX8 and will change it to lipo once they arrive. Thanks again. Mike Edited By MikeS on 31/08/2014 13:10:15

    DX8 help.

Thanks all for the help, low voltage alarm is set at 4,3v. Interestingly had a pm from a chap who had the exact same symptoms and reports replacing the battery fixed the issue. I think I will get a Lipo replacement and see if it does sort out the problem. Mike Edited By MikeS on 31/08/2014 06:35:11

    DX8 help.

My trusty DX8 has devolved a strange problem. I have the original nimh battery which is around two years old installed. Fully charged it shows 5.6v on the screen. This quickly drops to 5v. When the screen shows 4.9v the tx will vibrate rather than beep as it shuts down from being Switched off, at 4.8v the screen goes blank and the tx vibrates and goes unresponsive until you switch it off. At the moment I am thinking maybe a bad cell in TX pack?. Mike
  25. Getting in was ok, left home at 9am and was setup and ready by 11:15. However we left after the Vulcan along with everyone else and took over two and a half hours to get out of the car park. Wasn't too bad as watched the rest of show from car.
