Good Service from Ripmax
Tomtom39 replied to Peter Gain 1's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
A big thumbs up for the excellent service that I've had from Ripmax. I rang them up yesterday to see if I could get a set of wings from them (following an rather inadvertent arrival of my aircraft with Terra firma!) . The wings set arrived today via TNT. Thank you Richard at Ripmax Customer services . Very much appreciated. -

Hello Lee. Very sorry to hear that. I am aware that another club member had a similar situation. He contacted Macgregors and they talked him through the problem. Think it was an issue with an unformatted SD card.
-
Hello Lee, Only found out by accident after downloading update . I had just got used to all the pretty lights on the T/X and suddenly one had disappeared! I love my Zero and also use the 35mhz module as I still have plenty of JR receivers in models. Not too keen on the orange ones!
-
Just a quick note if you download the last firmware update from JR on the zero . You will not have the issue that Lee Smalley mentions. I have also bought the DMSS module for my Zero (it's not cheap!)

Many thanks (Ken/Dylan)

Does anyone have any experience in using this engine?

A very big thumbs up to John and Gary at Horizon UK . Excellent service . Horizon products are now pretty much my first choice as a consequence. You get what you pay for! A shinning example to the other distribution companies! -
Has anyone heard of this ARTF maker?

Good Service by Horizon Hobbies
Tomtom39 replied to J Moyler's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
A big thumbs up for the service from Horizon Hobbies (UK) . I damaged an E-Flite electric motor (my fault!!) I sent this to them on Monday for repair. They have very kindly replaced this for me and its back (within four days inc postage time  on my plane ready to be used - now that is what I call SERVICE . Worth paying a little extra for piece of mind. Many thanks if any of the chaps at Horizon use this forum -
Those are very good for unwanted models that you don't really care too much about (my Vampire was a post twice crashed version)

Tomtom39 replied to Stuart Eggerton's topic in Gliders and Gliding - General Discussion
Hello Stuart Another message and invite in your PM box. Regards -
Hello Garbo, It does if you hit it with a hammer! (In this case a problematic DSM AR500 )

Hello Goose10 Had similar issue, I replaced mine with a much stronger one from E-Flite . Its the Power 15 which is the one used in the Parkzone Habu . It flew like a dream until receiver locked out!

SG 38 Zogling - Primary Glider
Tomtom39 replied to Stuart Eggerton's topic in Gliders and Gliding - General Discussion
Hello Stuart, Many thanks. I've got the box out and will crack on as soon as I get the K13 finished. Regards -
Hello Staurt (again) Is the SG38 from the Krick kit (I have one but can't find the Instructions - must get round to finding a set , and also buying a suitable pilot - been sitting in my cupboard for last 10 plus years !) What is the motor on it ? (This is opening up a whole world of fun !) Kind regards
-
Hello Stuart, Mine is also from one of Mr Charlesworths plans. Same scale as yours . Always fancied thought of trying to build a 1/3 rd version. I know what you mean about the launches (one reason I get one of my stronger club friends to hang on to the bigger models ). Thanks for the tip. Just been doing some calculations on the motor and expect approximate 80W per Ilb. 4S lipo with a 13X8 folding prop- which I think will be more than sufficient. Will send some pics as I always seem to find that it takes ages to upload! (low boredom threshold). Look forward to some more of your videos (hoping Santa will bring me one of those fancy GoPros)
-
Hello Stuart, Mine is the K 13 . TOO ashamed to put pics up yet as it needs a nice wash and brush ie total recovering after flying into a thorn bush (name escapes me - but it sort of rhymed with ouch , b******* and other pleasantries!). Airframe seems fine and perfect opportunity to shove a motor up front. I've got one of those hackers spare so will be fitting it in . As mentioned reading your thread (at a late stage) has galvanised me into doing something productive with the glider and to give it a new lease of life. Many thanks
-
Hello Stuart, That looks an absolute beaut. Loved your video. I built the K13 a very long time ago having had the pleasure of Instructing in them in the dim and distant past! I have watched your build with interest and it has given me the impetus to dust the cob webs off and add a prop to its front too!!

Acro Wot ARTF (balsa) chat
Tomtom39 replied to David Ashby - Moderator's topic in Sport, Aerobatic and 3D kits
Hello John, I'm glad you reminded me about the Aileron rods - those were a bit thin!!! . I have to say on my IC (ARTF) one - powered by an old Laser 70 . I did fit 3mm Carbon rods. On the other Electric conversions they are as provided and have not given up yet!! (I will check) Motor mount that came with it was donated to a club member as I had a very nice one ready to fit in there . I was going to say is a .91FS a bit of overkill - until I remembered my elec one is pouring out a shade under 2000Watts at full chat with a 6S lipo(see previous posting) Great for prop hanging - something I don't think they were designed for!! (extra tail weight seems to help too). I had a chat with some of the other club members who have the Acro Wot's about the control rods and general consensus seems to be that the rod system has been tried and tested and works well ! From my experience of 3D I would have preferred cables on rudder or servos as close to tail surfaces (doesn't look as good and it adds to the already heavy tail ). I meant to ask Ripmax as to why they didn't go down the route of offering the model in both IC/Electric option. (presume because they offer a foamy version in Elec?)
