Hi JimThe cowl I have purchasesd from my hobbys is most masive not expecting any problems.I have got a choice of engines,o/s 120 surpass, saito 125 GK,o/s 120 surpass pumped and a satio 130 twin, to many to choce from, lucky old me.My mates toot origioanly had the engine (a 1983 o/s fs 90 fs) fitted inverted but was later change to horizontal because the engine occasionalty backfired.I was quite supprised at performance verry good but He did say that more power would be way to go,I will be going to fitt a fourstroke more for the loverly sound they make rather than performance,How have you got yours set up. inverted or horizontalBert

Hi craigI have to many models and I don't think I will ever get round to finishing her offMust admit it wouldn't be that hard as wings are foam and fuz is glass fibre.I have never flown a twin plane before and it might be a good idea to have flown somthing a bit more disposableAs of yet I haven't had time to get it out a photo all the bitts but at the end of the day it will look like any other scale mossibert

Hi CraigI was unable to find pictures.ReI have made my first minor mistake, I copy some parts of the plan onto traceing paper and then photocopy, this way I have paper to work on and dont ruin the plan.Have you ever tryed using a hot household iron to transfer photo coppiesI sometimes photo copy parts of plans and lay copy face down on to wood to be used making sure grain is in right direction then put a hot iron over it and push down hard if all's well you should end up with a reverse print of part.I was in a hurry the other day and couldn't get to a photo copy machine in my frustration I had a go directly from the plan it did work (NOTE you only get about two goes at it so test with none imoprtant lines firstps I have put my mossi up for sale in the adds sectiongood luck with the buildbert -
Hi Alan if you are going to natts maybe we could meet upBert

BobI forgot to mention the precedent aeronca I started in 1995 it only needs fuz covering to finish and fitting out with radio and engine ect, it's funny how some planes take a back seat in workshops.Bert

Hi BobI was going to use the Belair kit but when I went to order the kit I was told that he had cut a kit for a customer and they reported back that the parts didn't fit and gave up on the build.Having spoken to Belair about this it was the 65" version by Phil Kent,They also cut parts for the 57" Philip Kent Toot,They recomended that I got a D.Tapsfeild plan and sent it to them for scanning and cutting.A parantly Belair don't supply plans, so what ever desighner you use you will need to get your own plans.I have D.Tapsfeild plans.I am cutting the parts as an infill job at moment whilst I finish off rebuilding my thirty year old Tiger moth that I lost radio contact with and re-kitted itself, it was realy beyond repair but I just couln't put it in the bin,Upside is that it has given me the reason to make alterations that I have put of for more years than I care to remember.I would have prefered to have parts cut as it's the transfer of drawing to wood that put me off. Most of the shaping is with 1/8"~1/4" balsa,so not dificult to do with sander, and by ironing on the print to wood you get all the info on the wood the shrinkage is realy not worth bothering about.Laser cut parts are only as good as the guy who scans in the plan, part of doing this is to put plan on computer and use it as a background and over draw with a cad program,The probelm is a drawn pencil line is quite a lot wider than a cad line so your in the hands of the programer,Dont get me wrong they are very good at their job but you might find some parts dont't quite fitAnyway good luck on your build of a TootBertare you going to nationalsps Belair are on holidays at moment

I have now decided to cut all my own partsI started to trace parts but decided to photo copy and hot iron the copy direct onto the woodAs I havent been able to get to a photo copy machine yet,I put the plan face down onto wood and had a go with iron, just to see what would happen,It worked very well although it did shrink a little with the heat, but I can correct this during cutting.I am using various hand tools and machines to cut out partsElectric fret sawelectric belt sander with side discrazor sawsand pernagrit various pernagrit toolsand asortment of sand paperBert

Well I will find out in 7~10 dayAnd post some photosBelair has offered to scan plan and cut parts no exact price but I would gues it would be around the£100.00 bracket. He said he would only charge for lasser cutting time and wood.My fellow club member was given some verry nice 2mm thick ally wing rib templates with his secondhand Toot .Dont know what plan they were cut from, but I have had a go with them and made 6 ribs just for fun,Thay work verry well so Its fingers crossed that they will suit the DT planbert

A club member arived at our feild with a Biplane that realy caught my eyeHe informed me that it was called a Little Toot built years ago from a planI like ti so much I just had to find out more about it, I came across a plan in a plans book Ihad had for a short time.So I did a bit more recearch and found that there was a few plans in existance drawn by different people. One well known lasser cutting company also listed laser cut parts for one of the avalible plans. Then I found another that could supply plans spats and a cowl an some parts pre cut.It is now time to decide where to place my orderBert

Hi GuysMany thanks for you helpI am expecting a phone call early next week from my hobby storeHopefully I will get to find out what it is that I would get for my moneyMany thanksBert

Hi Bobyes I would agreeI had wondered as there are different plans avalible for same scale toot could it be possible that the guy I have mentioned in previous post had parts cut for say a phil kent toot but he may have had plan by Dennis TAs I was told that company who did cutting work do not suply plans so making it is possible to order parts for same size and scale plane but actualy tying to line them up against a diferent plan who knowsIt is possible that if cutting company had an old plan scanned into cad and stored for many years things could go wrong if plan has been up revised and modified. Also having dabbled a verry little in cnc milling some times strange things happen with programs when passing drawings through the different programs to build up the G code file that all cnc machines need to opperate fromOne interesting point is that phil kent has told me that the cowl supplied from hobby stores is an exact fit to his vesion of tootIf I was going to have parts lasser cut I would send plans that I would use to build from and insist that my own plan was scanned in and usedthis way parts cut would match my plan if they didnt I would lay blame at lasser cutting companyI did ask hobby store what would happen if the pre cut parts they can supply didnt fit didnt get a good responceBert

Hi Jimthanks for swift repliyspoke to hobby store earlyer today they could not give me the scale or size of plane the only referance is to the rc1266 on their websiteI now know that this is the wrong one that I would like to buildSo it will be the rm143 for meIts a shame that hobby store could not give awnsers to my questions about what parts they can supply only a rough guesI dont realy want to go the full hog of rib and former cuting as I would like to make swift progress when I get startedPaul
