I also didnt like the idea of burying the servo (and misread the plan LOL) so I have mine with the control arm sticking out and the pull pull wires held in tension with a clip I designed on Fusion 360 and printed up. If I was building again I might consider putting in 2 tubes as guides as per the RH Gemini or even a lightweight wire pushrod as the Depron is rather fragile and mine has cracked around the horn in transit.

Rich, having problems with sourcing the 3 blade 8x7.5 prop. Any clues as to a supplier? This might be the reason for my lack of grunt from this motor.

First hops and flights completed yesterday with zero drama on my Cabriolet version. So important to be patient and get those few trimming hops done and not rushed. Mine came in at 1.08kg so slightly on the beefy side. For those gyro virgins building the Revolver2, I always set up with the hang angle on the max side as this will make the handling more docile. My 3s 2200 was pushed as far forward as possible so I will then start to work it back bit by bit until it becomes too "frisky". Also this is a small model so dont fly too far away, keep it in close or you will lose orientation. Best tip I was given when i started for take offs is to stand half way down the strip and and let the gyro comes to you and then pass you. That way its not so far away when it gets off the ground.

I have drawn up some parts for the Revolver 2 that can be 3d printed. They are a holder for the tail feathers and a wheel spat. This holder will allow the Depron parts to be easily replaced. We have found on other gyros such as the Gemini, that these parts are easily damaged in transit and flight. This holder grips the Depron which can then be further held in place with a couple of cocktail sticks. Credit for the original idea goes to Rich Elliot. The spats are 1.mm thick and come with a mount which is glued on in the side of the spat and a clamp which is screwed to the mount. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3623693 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3623711

I have knocked up a 3d printed stab and fin holder. The reason is that I have a tendency to damage Depron tail pieces on another RH design, the Gemini. A good friend came up with an idea to secure the tail pieces with cocktail sticks pushed through the balsa mount, which does work very well. Now I have a printer I thought it would make swapping parts a bit easier. If it works I will upload the story file to thingiverse for free use. Right got it . So I need the canopy to procede or make an open cockpit version temporarily. Ill get on with the other bits, leave that till last then. Got some 60mm AJ blade blanks left over. Wish I had thought to put snakes on the inside now.

Rich can you post up some snaps of the canopy and the fuz with the canopy off please? In particular the rear/servo end? I am considering making mine an open canopy version or making the canopy out of blue foam like Rich’s Rex.

Waiting for the wind to drop and getting itchy fingers. Hi Richard, yes there will be fly ins this year. First one is up in Peterborough around the 4th of May. Location and dates of others usually revolve around the UK meet at Winterton MFC. This is not a silly question at all. "down elevator" or forward rotor tilt is a control we prefer not use on Delta heads when the model is in the air. We would use it to stop the rotors on the ground. The reason is that it can stop the blades spinning very quickly. With tractor models it will nearly always result in the nose tucking under and once the top of the blade hits the air flow there will be no lift. So in a way you are correct. There would be a sudden descent and the rotor would stop! What you can do for a rapid controlled descent is to pull pack on the rotor and increase the revs. This has the effect of slowing the model forward flight right down and increasing the head speed. Vertical descent is then controlled by the use of both controls.

I get all of my alloy sheet and strip from http://www.mallardmetals.co.uk. He is a very friendly man, if you ring him and have a chat he will send you exactly the dimension you need. As far as a steerable tail wheel, in my opinion it's not needed, I just put in a skid. The rudder is plenty big enough to swing the tail and in any case you will need a more forward cg at first but that depends on the size of lipo, or are you going glow? BTW rumour has it that coolwinds have a limited supply of ready made blades in stock.

Chiltern MFC Autogyro Fly In 2016 We are trying to fix a date for this years event. Our usual weekends in May clash with the Old Warden Mayfly and the Greeenacres events. We also have had an issue with our patch over the warm and wet winter which will could affect April and early May. So how does the first weekend in June sound?

I have just heard the sad news that Tom Wright passed away yesterday 25th Jan 2016. Tom was one of those rare people who gave freely of his knowledge, had boundless enthusiasm for the world of model Autogyros and was a real gentleman in the true sense of the word. I am sure that all those that had the pleasure of meeting Tom will miss him and the enthusiasm he brought to the hobby.

I have an AJ for sale. It is one of the pre production kits that was used to test out various blades and set ups. Not pristine but in good flying order. I will sell with or without motor and servos.
