  1. The weather was really bad for me. I went on the sunday and the only flying i saw was a T-28 on the scale line. I think a few of the aerobatic aircraft on the other side of the perri track flew, they were brave! It wasent all bad though, I mannaged to pick up some 5" wheels, New charger, Parkzone Extra 300, Falcon Aviation eagle and a Futaba RX for that! I look forwards to next year!
  2. 1. Galaxy Models   2. Robot Birds   3. Phase 3 EF-16   4. Ripmax   All of the above i have had no troubles with at all! I cannot fault anyone of them!
  3. Hi Danny, Yes it was nice to see you at Raydon, the weather can be really annoying but it let up on monday to enable me to give the spit a nice fly! Some U/C work is needed but all in all it flies really well, I hope the bigger Nijhuis spit flies just as well. Hows the Hurricane and Mustang comming on?    15lb for the new spit seems rather heavy! Kyosho's Spitfire 90 (same size) weighs around 10lb and the brian taylor 69" spitfires are also around that mark. I guess the slightly heavier, the more scale they fly. 4. I liked building (and now flying!) Tony's 62.5" spit SO much that i am DEFINITLY building this one!. Its practically at the top of my build list!
  5. Hi, What is every ones AUW??   Mine is 7.7lb! does anyone have an AUW over this? will the spit still fly alright like this??   thanks, WIll
  6. Many say that this model is a real treat to fly and i guess this means that landings are not too challenging. Remeber landing will be faster than your average ARTF or sport model because it is a warbird. I also use Phoenix simulator but am appauled at how the scale aircraft fly! they fly like pigs and is not very good for judging how a real plane will handle, although i suppose if you can fly the warbirds in Phoenix you can fly just about anything!   why not go electric on your model! no more silencers sticking out the cowl! and not much noise! the end result is a nice scale, quite and nice flying aircraft that you dont need to clean after you fly.
  7. ahhhh, I also bought a plastic one from the local model shop but it is quite short and fat which isnt so scale, but the diffrence is hardly noticeable in the air, I just wanted it for the ground.   I am thinking of a scale prop as well, again just for the ground display.   Let me know on how the flying goes
  8. WOW That looks absolutly amazing! I have never seen one quite so scale looking, apart from Tony's model. well done.   Can you tell me where you got that spinner from? I am looking for a scale spinner to use
  9. John, Oh yes im going for the full works and cannons is on the list. I have had to edit the plans to make it more scale. For instance the tailwheel is now scale and note the engine airintake under the fuse. I have also gone for the round exhausts!
  10. well this is my spitfire! I am going for the paint scheme of the spitfire MK9 at duxford. painted using flair products paints and high build primer. I have tried to do panel lines but they didnt show up so well so i didnt bother on the wings! I have the decals on order from Pyramid models for the spitfire ZD*B Hope you all like!

  13. I cant wait to see the build! Tony just needs a Sterling now!
  14. well if you do need a new motor, look no further than this one:  http://www.giantcod.co.uk/xyh5065-410kv-brushless-outrunner-p-404748.html   Its the right size and should have about 1200W and will deliver about 160W/lb! On 6S or course!
  15. well just for a bit if info at 50W/lb it will give you a slow but scale fight. For example, perfect for a sopwith cammel.   at around 100W/lb it will give you a slightly fast but still the feel and look of a scale flight. Perfect for a spitfire   at around 150W/lb it starts to become faster and more of a "point and it will go!" flight. however it is still perfect for a spitfire as it come in handy doing such scale moves as a very wide loop.   anything over 200-250w/lb and its starting to become a 3D and sport model but this power can still be used on a scale plane due to throttle control. However all of the above depends on many things and the biggest factor being DRAG!!!!   The more drag the more watts you will have to find. for example a DR1 with all three wings and rigging will have to have quite a few more watts then a sleek design such as an F-16. and another decisive factor is the size of the model and the wing load.   Hope this helps! Will
  16. wow thats a nice looking plane! well done!!!   all you need now is a spitfire to go with it!
  17. I have now stuck the underside of the wing on how should i go about fitting flaps now?
  18. for me i connected up and made sure worked the retracts before i covered the underside of the wing. so all is in for good now!!!! the only thing is that there is some slop in one of the tracts. I shall have to make another hatch!
  19. with reguards to some earlier posts, I Have Glued my wing mounting plate to the top of the wing. I used the slec UK 6mm nylong bolts and these actually go right through the bottom sheet to secure onto the top sheet.   John, I too have opted for an electric set up. and I also need to build a hatch. However this has to be done near the engine rocker box covers so something will have to be worked out here.     I wasnt going to go for the glass firbe strip as I would have to cut a huge hole in it to account for the retract servo, but the way you guys talk about the strip make it seem vital. I was instead going to glue (with epoxy) some 1mm birch ply to the top of the wing to act as the GF strip. Do you think this is wize?
  20. well I doubt my photos are much, having seen the proffesionalism in some of the photos on this thread but i shall still post them   The Photos are of my V-1 Doodlebug, a rarely models aircraft which is one of the reasons why i decided to build it. The plane is from the John Ranson plan and is in 1:9th scale so it has a wingspan of 26". Alas, due to its heavy weight (400g+) it was never a great flyer and sadly no longer exists
