  1. so it could be not enough reflex as they call it (?)... you might have it sussed because I flew it the time before last in about 30mph with 4oz of church roof from a steep cliff so the lift was near vertical, had trouble keeping it in sight from the height it was gainging, must have thrown heaps of down trim in and left it there last time. When out with it last week it was almost hyper stalling in 12-15mph, or possibly just me occasionally pulling up  to try and control the height loss which is never a great idea. Cheers fellas, always get the answers pronto round here.   Ross
  2. Back again, been a while, Dusted off the Fusion again and had a fly recently - COG set up must be slightly off, can't stay up in anything less than 15mph on a steep coastal, and seems to loose high far too easily and generally not behave anything like I've seen others manage on youtoob, even in 25mph. Got the CoG at 4&1/4" and have done the nice ballast mod that peewhit described above so tried it heavy and light, no difference.  Can't try a dive test as it's near uncontrollable and I fly over the sea, (hence why I've not tried moving the COG fwd/back in case it goes south). Any ideas folks? Thanks , Ross.
  3. Anyone have any ideas on making the fin removable?  I've got access to some industrial velcro (stuff they use to stop televisions sliding around on ships in rough seas etc) but it would probably rip the tape off before releasing the fin! It's for storage purposes I'm trying to do this, not just for kicks
  4. "Posted by Peewhit on 10/02/2010 22:50:47: The Yorkshire weather is no better Ross. The elevator travel does need to be limited as opposed to the ailerons which  need to be "full".  It depends upon which Tx you have. I use a Spektrum DX7, and you need to limit the aileron throws using the dual rate function.  What Tx do you have?  "  Futaba 6EX 2.4GHz, should do the mixing. I don't think it will be dual rates that will limit  the elevator though, it must be in there under one of the mixes to restrict elevator but keep aileron throws full when together.  I'll worry iabout it when I get there. Like I said, won't get to build this soon, off to Val D'isere, different kind of sloping!
  5. Posted by Peewhit on 10/02/2010 20:51:47: Ross, It is very  sensitive to elevator trim and one click of up or down makes a lot of difference,  Neil,  How much reflex (is that the correct term?) i.e elevon up to I set since it's so sensitive to elevator? It's not really dealt with in the instructions other than the darwing. I guess you have to adjust the mixing so elevator side of things is limited and controllable but the ailerons can give full travel to keep roll rates higher. Or just use massive expo on elevator?? I won't get a chance to build this for a while but considering the scottish weather just now it's no biggy, grumble.
  6. Thanks Timbo. All the ( far distant) piccys and videos I've seen of the Fusions & Wildthings look like they have really smooth or film coverings but I guess up close they would look a bit less 'moulded wing'!  As for scuffed landings, I've got three feet soft heather up here at most of my LZs so you have to put some real effort in to scratch up the belly  Peewit - I notice Alan is pretty clear about not adding ballast but it's blows pretty strong round here so I reckon I'll give your mod a pop. 4oz it is.  Do you struggle in lighter winds with that  :. remove some, or not notice?  Quick responses round here eh! Thanks guys.
  7. I've just bought a Fusion 46" and a bit stuck with how to get a smooth tape covering on the rounded parts such as the wing tips and the fuse?  Has anyone got any photos showing how they've managed - just lots of cuts in the tape and overlaps??  A photo would be a great help, thanks folks Ross
