  1. Robin ,What are you building and who was the kit manufacturer? if you feel you can name them online, I have experienced similar issues with a particular supplier /Manufacturer and theiir quantity suveying left much to be desired . Dave . Edited By sticky fingers on 26/01/2012 22:15:55
  2. Hi Tim, I didn't make the comment, as it's not in line with the PC world we live in,in fact I have a female boss and life could not be easier nowadays, no more thinking for myself anymore I just do as I'M told, easy peesy . I can't believe that your better half option to reverse over me would be wise decision best method would be to manoever behind the target and slighly below, counter their every action and when in range 100 yds or less then floor the accelerator, usually ensures a kill confirmed rather than a proable Dave
  3. hi again Chris. I hear what you say the "D" nose construction is very strong and resists torsional stress but I,m sticking with the original design , Lightweight gear and staying in the original intended flight envelope.cheers for now Dave Edited By sticky fingers on 21/01/2012 22:14:44
  4. Alan, I was brought up not too far away from you , in Sutton -in- Ashfield, at the same time as your good self and I also have memories of aircraft in the skies around the area. I recall at one airshow held at Hucknall seeing a Hustler with two Voodoos hooked up to aerial refuel hoses, and also a Spitfire and a Hurricane engaged in a dogfight circa 58/ 59.In regard to the crashed RR Spit the last time I saw it was at Filton, being rebuilt in 2006 and a MK 9 was being serviced in the hangar, another which was done up in PRU colours was away on display duty. I believe that there has been some dispute at the RR hangar and the aircraft are now elswhere.
  5. Tim, would that be the Spitfire that nosed over on the runway at Hawarden last year? The comment from one of the witnesses was," it must have been a woman driver" dave
  6. what about a big bungee or, maybe chuck it off the Orme, a great PSS.Dave Edited By sticky fingers on 20/01/2012 15:37:25
  7. Just a quick question without notice Chris. I note you have included bottom L/E sheeting on your build ,I have no reference on either of my drawings 3or 4 channel version ,is this one of your mods.I,m well into my build but no photos as my camera was stolen in a recent break in, but the only mod I have made is to the wing braces which are now 1/8 ply instead of 1/16 . A final smooth sand and I ready to cover the whole model. BTW been following your blog from day one, cracking job. my intention is to go down the solartex vintage route ,will probably save weight in the long run. Really  looking forward to meeting the characters at greenacres in June, even if the weather is rubbish it doesnt rain inthe pub  Dave Edited By sticky fingers on 20/01/2012 15:26:53
  8. Went out today for the first time in ages, lovely day up here in the N/West couple of good flights with th Wot 4 but my fingers started to seize up with the cool breeze ,all the same a welcome change from the howling winds we,ve had lately.
  9. Tom, whilst I agree that some of the equipment is old technology, particularly radio systems and the like, the tips and hints in regard to building techniques and engineering practices, and basic principles etc, are as valid today as it was then, and will always remain so.The wheel has been invented but, there will always be someone who tries to do it better and always fails. I have found that in my 63 years that life goes in cycles, not too much is new ,just a variation of a theme, take a look at the 2012 mass build threads and blogs and note the the number of confirmed participants. Old Technology!!. regards Dave Edited By sticky fingers on 15/01/2012 21:05:51
  10. Thats what I like about local manufacturers ( well, local to me here in Merseyside) Good quality products, reasonable prices and excellent  technical advice.Dave. Edited By sticky fingers on 14/01/2012 15:49:43
  11. Thanks for the complement Lee,what I meant by not typing too well is that I'm slow and often miss out letters etc., forever going back to correct I was edificated in the 50's to the mid 60's before the tampering with the Education System,so i can read and rite proper and can talk the Queens Enlish as she is supposed to be spoke To be serious I;m much faster and preferpen and paper, than a keyboard, if Ihad wanted to be a typist I would have enlisted at typing scool when I was 15, instead I used real tools.I do build a very reasonable model though, of which wil be demonstrated when I start my build log going up to clear the decksin preparation Dave Edited By sticky fingers on 26/11/2011 15:05:43 Edited By sticky fingers on 26/11/2011 15:07:42
  12. I agree with you Steve and BEB.I;ve been reading this magazine since the ealy 70's,yes it has changed, but, so has the face of modelling in general with the introduction of ARTF and advancements in electrical power,we now have much more choice. As for ego,I call it confidence, confidence in knowledge and ability in a particular field and without those "egotists"what would we have? "nothing" no magazine, no forum,Keep up the good work RCM& E team.On a lighter note I don,t contibute too much to these forums because Idont type too well, its taken me ages to get this far,but I am really looking forward to meeting fellow modellers at the vintage build flyin at Greenacres
