  1. Can only repeat what others have said, very sad news. My condolences and prayers to his friends and family. One of the most helpful and friendly people on here, he always seemed to have a good word and encouragement for all. Will be very sadly missed.
  2. I would be reluctant to make the wings a snug fit on the bolts, as anything between the wings will act as a fulcrum and make the wings slide off the spar, it is the cones on the wing retainers that stop the wings sliding apart in fligtht, but allow them to slide under impact. If I remember correctly (I can't get the wings out until the weekend) there is a protrusion under the wings that fitsinto the fuselage that stops the movement you mention. If this has been "dented" it may allow slight movement, Maybe a couple of 1/2" wide strips od that very thin (more like paper) foam packing you get around electronic good, paced between the wing and fuselage would make it a firmer fit again. If you want to put tube on the bolts, what about a couple of layers of heat shrink tube?
  3. For continuity, I placed two orders last Thursday, hopeful that they will arrive tomorrow.
  4. Picked up a Dremel 300, no signs of use, accessory box still closed with cable ties, flexible drive and a mini circular saw attachment, all boxed and looking brand new, for £10. Hadn't really planned to buy anything, and only decided to go at the last minute as it was so cold.
  5. This is the colour on one of mine. I will let the paint harden for a a few days before putting it back together.

  10. Posted by Dave Samuels on 12/05/2012 18:27:46: Price increase can be explained by UK VAT. MyHobbyStore are operating this legally as a UK business with the VAT number on the website - which is new. I wonder what the well established FPV brand "Fat Shark" think about the new name? I'm guessing it was you who said the same thing on another forum, the wording is almost the same. This is an old story, and nobody has ever shown there is any more substance to it than bus stop gossip.
  11. Posted by Redstorm on 11/05/2012 21:38:18: I've recently finished building a multiplex mentor and have noticed that the wings are a little loose as the holes that the wing securing bolts pass through are bigger than the bolts them selves. Any ideas anyone? I don't see what it will achieve, as the holes are between the wing halves, ie half the hole is on one wing and half the hole on the other wing. The bolts only provide downward force to hold the wing onto the fuselage, and to hold the wing locators down onto the wing, they do not hold anything in position themselves. In fact, unless you glue the wings together, you could only glue the tube onto one wing. If the glue joint between the wing and tube was strong, the tubes would probably cause damage to the wing in the event of a hard landing.
  12. Posted by Alan Cantwell on 11/05/2012 22:11:59: wait till monday, and i will knock a couple up for you, and you have to have foam safe cyno, standard stuff, and its activator will melt the model Standard cyano does not melt the foam, and Multiplex specifically warn against using foam safe cyano or epoxy.
  13. Posted by Olly P on 11/05/2012 11:08:18: And Back on topic. Has anyone who put a test order in recieved anything yet? I know in GC days it was traditional to expect things the next day.... I won't know until I get home! But I am not expecting it so quick to be honest, tomorrow or Monday would be fine.
  14. Posted by Simon Chaddock on 10/05/2012 23:53:31: Surely the only clever bit was controlling it from another plane flying in formation. Such a large model really shouldn't have any difficulty crossing the channel. I tend to agree. The red tape was also probably quite a challenge. It's been done before from a boat, and one crossed the Atlantic. For less than £200, it could have been made to make the trip by itself, including take off and landing. Apart from the red tape again.
  15. It seems back to normal this morning, hope it continues when traffic builds up.
  16. Strangely, it has just got better, but for how long?
  17. I ended up placing two orders, just to stock up on bits and pieces, and both are marked as despatched! Looking good
  18. Well, I just went all the way through to the final part of the checkout (using demo data of course) and the shipping stayed at that. I can only assume it is a personal delivery in a gold plated helicopter. Totally crazy, I paid 119 funny things, and at that it was worth it, but at 200 funny things it is over priced. There is a lot of work to do on it to make it as good as you would like it, the stickers seem to be poor, now I know I am not the only one to have them peeling. They claim theirs is the only one with carbon strengthening, more talk than substance, it is one piece of carbon tune about a foot long on the tailplane, easy to add if you bought from elswhere. Really, that shipping kills is as a deal completely, at the earlier price they were a bargain, and interesting because of the size, but in fact it is only about 10" bigger than the Mentor in wingspan, I was surprised when they were together.
  19. I don't think I paid any extra for postage, I can't remember, but I'm sure it was included in the price.
  20. Reading Rob's explanation, it sounds OK. This is a major opportunity for myhobbystore, they could really make something of it, and it could be great for all modellers. To do that, they are going to have to up their attitude towards customers, a great opprtunity for them to change their reputation as well as make the GS work well. If they succeed, they will force HK to look at their UK pricing, which will be another benefit to us all. It's starting to look a bit more positive, lets hope the communication improves though.
  21. I decided I would put it to the test Ordered 14 low value items, all stated as being in stock. It shows in my account the order has been placed and ready for picking, so we will see. I would have ordered 4 motors as well, but they are all out of stock. On the home page it says that 70% of the stock has arrived, but looking through, it appears much more than 30% missing, I wonder if that means they are not going to re-stock some items. I think placing an order is a better way of judging service, so now I'm waiting to see.
  22. Yes, and I've just noticed more junk at the bottom of the page when replying to some posts. Maybe it was there before and I didn't notice it.

    Way ahead

Looking at the "local" news and saw this......................... DAVAO CITY – After banning smoking and spitting in public, the city government announced that starting June 28, it would be a crime here to use environmentally-destructive plastic bags and styrofoams in packaging, including for food products. Not plastic bags are not banned, only those that are no biodegradable. No spitting or smoking in public, and no talk of banning plastic bags, just making sure the ones used are biodegradable, the third world can lead the way in some respects
  24. Posted by ericrw on 10/05/2012 08:49:52: Steve, I've used Benderm Tape on the edges that are loose !! I'm surprised to hear you have loose edges, throttlestore said they were all OK. I am going to try a couple of things as I can't fly this weekend, otherwise I will remove it and use ordnary vinyl
