  1. I like both the Galaxy Models Scorpion and Twin Scorpion. I would have bought one but its a shame you can't buy it anywhere now.
  2. Did Galaxy Norwich become Pegasus Models? That would explain them stocking Galaxy Models kits even when Galaxy Models was still going. I bought my first plane from Galaxy Models in 1998 it was the SuperSixty shame the no longer exist now.
  3. I don't think so. I think the magician has a slightly thinner more tapered wing.
  4. A single engine plane will always be easier but I disagree regarding the weight as two 25 IC engine will more than likely weigh more than the motors. I will say this though, dont expect it to be as light and able to dead stick glide like the PB Bean or Galaxy Magician. The cables will be more challenging like you say and you could easily use the front of the fuselage to house the battery compartment for say a 4s 5000. Also because it is leccy I would use smaller lighter servos to save weight, I would use 9g-20g servos. You would probably want to raise the plane a bit with bigger wheels to give yourself more prop space so it doesn't become a lawn mower. You will struggle to go bigger than 9in prop. The biggest issue with mine is getting oil under the covering. I would buy one before they put the price up because in my opinion the Twin Hornet is worth a bit more than the Musketeer because of what you get in the kit.
  5. Nice photos Steve, I also like Reef aquariums, Photography, travelling and Motorsport.
  6. I was thinking of using the GF 4-5in bandage that comes in the kit with fast drying PVA glue. You are right about the twin engine sound. Only issue is I am always bricking it in case one engine dead sticks, so far so good (hence why its a good leccy candidate)
  7. I would aim for about 800-880w combined to fly the Twin Hornet well. Fairly high KV because the plane can't go bigger than about an 8-9" prop. See video
  8. No the Twin Hornet lands well and flies like on rails. It would make for a very wise choice for Electric Conversion! The P51 Mustang was my fault not the plane.
  9. In my opinion a some of the planes reccomend too small of an engine and the best fliers were as follows (from best to worst): 1. Galaxy Magician 2. PB Models Bean 3. Twin Hornet 4. Pegasus Wasp 5. Cambrian Fun Fighter (if you can launch it) 6. Pegasus Jester (top wing bends at the rubber bands in turns) 7. Galaxy Wizard (high wing load) 8. Cambrian Akrostar (fairly high wing load) 9. P51 Mustang didn't make the Maiden. None of them a really bad.
  10. I have built a lot of these types of kits and I agree they fly well, build quick and are robust. Fixing them isn't too difficult either. The planes I have built of this type are as follows: Galaxy Magician Galaxy Wizard Pegasus Musketeer (Now) Pegasus Jester Pegasus Wasp Pegasus Twin Hornet PB Models Bean Cambrian Fun Fighters (hard to launch) Cambrian Akrostar (Tip stalls easily) Cambrian P51 Mustang Sport size. All good fliers accept for the Akrostar tip stalls easily. Some also have a fairly high wing loading needing relatively hot landings. The Musketteer build has stalled a bit due to some errors I made, modifications and drying times as it is still cold in the workshop. Should have an update soon. I would have liked to put retracts on it but I don't know of a steerable nose retract which would fit. Also has anyone used PVA glue instead of Epoxy for the wing joining GF bandage? Or would you stick to epoxy?
  11. Good idea, should have done this at the start.
  12. That would seem a lot more reasonable to me. I know that balsa has doubleb in price but you aren't getting much in this kit. I believe when you buy a kit it should included everything accept the covering, Radio gear, Engine and glues/paint.
  13. Hi David, I have noticed the kit price has gone up £15 in the last month since I bought mine. You don't get a lot for your money at £114. I would have expected them to at least upgrade the kit to include a GF cowl not ABS, Steerable nose wheel and Hardwood Push rods for that money and a colour printed decent instructions. I am about half way through the build at the moment. There is two CofG depending on if you are Advanced or Beginner. I was going to go between the two to account for the extra fuel in the larger fuel tank. If you compare this to the price of the Seagull PT-19 ARTF 46 size for £152 (complete accept Radio and Engine), I can't see how the 30 size Musketteer can justify its new price. I think the kit as I received it is worth no more than about £75 tops.
  14. I agree I much prefer nitro, I just wish it didn't coat my planes in oil. I have a couple of planes that get almost no oil on them but most have it dripping over the wings.
  15. Hi All, It seems to me that IC engines second hand value has decreased recently due to how popular electric has become. I can't see how people new to the hobby could be drawn to IC now as there are very very few cheap new engines only OS and Saito mainly. Do you think the second hand value of IC engines has significantly dropped?
  16. Hi Guys, So far just over 3hrs. I had to modify the tank bulkhead to accept the bigger 11oz slec tank. The drying time is taking a while because of the temperature in the building area.
  17. Thanks guys, I was planning to use Slec tanks. I only have a 6oz or 11oz in my stock. I will go with the 11oz since I am using the Irvine 39 which only weights the same as a 25. I made a start today so far 1hr 30mins in. Drying time is slow!
  18. Haha no, only paper version. I intend to use a irvine 36 or 39 with an 9 or 11oz tank. I have a game we can play, I am going to time how long it takes to build. Guess how many hours now and I will reveal it at the end.
  19. Looks great, did you use the ABS plastic cowling? If you did, did you paint it?
  20. All comments seem about right to me. I tend to fly flat out a lot so a average tank only last about 8-10mins. I am hoping to get 10-15mins per flight going from 6oz-9oz.
  21. Hi All, What are the negative affects of installing an over sized fuel tank? If the plane was designed for a 6oz fuel tank but there is space for a 9oz how will it affect the plane? How much bigger can you go before affecting flight characteristics? Or cause CofG issues?
  22. Your plane looks great Andy, you say yours has a steerable nose wheel, did that come with the kit or bought extra?
