  1. Some realy good news. Colin from skyartec has been chatting to me about the exhaust problem. we reached a solution that as i had welded the exhaust up it has become my responsability now. but i was unhappy that i lost the spark plug and igniton sensor with what happened. i explained to colin that i felt it was probably a one off faulty exhaust as i say a friday afternoone job that was rushed out. Colin has offered as a good will gesture a new spark plug and a sensor for my igniton. now i cannot say a bad word here that is a fantastic gesture of good will. something you do not see with most model shops these days. with this problem solved i am happy to buy from skyartec again as this ensures to me they are thinking of there customers. Many thanks goes to Colin at skyartec for being a very reasonable man. Gary 132. Edited By gary132 on 07/08/2012 10:27:59
  2. I must amend my cooments in last post i read between the lines wrong. here is what i got back from skyartec. Hi Gary, Please note i have not asked what can be done to resolve the issue, i have plainly stated that the issue is normally from a vibration point of view, could i ask that if things are going to be posted on the internet that they are factual and not interpretational You mentioned that the CRRC engine is new, can i ask where it was purchased from and which version it is, V1 or V2? Regards Colin i think we are looking at blaming the engine for vibration to take the blame away from the exhaust being faulty......i am wasteing my time aint i.... new engine...new prop ...new scale spinner all balanced no bent shafts engine mounted on a nylon mount...loads of clearence around the cowling and exhaust to eliminate any rubbing or vibration issues. but it's going to be vibration to blame.....not a faulty exhaust.... i run an exact same engine in my seagull yak54 and it's not given me one ounce of trouble...and it's on it's stock exhaust. i am frustrated.
  3. Well i posted to skyartec the links to forums that i have posted on about the exhaust issue and they have replied. Colin from skyartec asked me more or less what could could be done to resolve this. my opinion is because i have already welded the exhaust up with alloy welding wire my situation is i don't have any funds at the moment to fund a new spark plug and possible ignition sensor. if they would replace these as they were damaged due to the exhaust failure it would be seen as a good will gesture on there part and get my model flying again. what they will say i don't know. i would like to finish my posting of this exhaust event on a nice note rather than a horrible one but that depends on what they want to do.... too many companys shirk off the customer and i am hopeing this company will prove me wrong and allow me to praise them Gary.
  4. Victor how can they insist on it's return with reciept when you have explained your buying situation. the problem is us english and i am not being off don't complain enough when something goes wrong. we have a tendancy to say oh blow it and go buy another. personally i believe in getting what i paid for. and in my eyes i got sub standard item for my good money. once i have bought it and parted with my money thats it.....they do not respond to e mails or phone calls. they just let you waffle on and hope it will go away....which usually it does and they carry on selling sub standard stuff and people are loseing hard earned money all over.....years ago i had an artf chipmunk which one aileron fell of during it's 3rd flight......i threw the laws at them of not fit for purpose and kept on and on....i eventually got a new wing in replacement.....ive seen some models crash too due to design and manufactor fault...but they never listen and it don't affect them complaining.....my hangar 9 tribute that snapped in half during a flight at a show was another...i reported it to bmfa and hangar 9 are still selling them.....i was given a replacement fusalage which i think the delivery driver sat on.....still in my workshop in it's box smashed....
  5. cheers Alan, this last year i have put together several yt spitfires and a hurricane and had the pleasure of setting them up and test flying them for someone else....this got me onto the idea of owning one. being on benifit due to spine probs i settled for a crashed one that came my way at the right price. she flys absolutely superb and i can't wait to get her repaired to fly her again..... i would love one of the yt spitfires ....one day one day
  6. this is her flying just before the exhaust snapped
  7. The 109 is a yt international one. i picked this up which had a snapped wing and the fuse had loads of fibreglass pieces missing from it. i renovated it back up to flying condition with a full respray and complete new decal set in the colours of josef "hans" priller....a german ace. i am hoping to have her repaired and flying at souhtern model airshow hop farm.
  8. I bought a pitts exhaust for my 109 project. i purchased it from skyartec and it is described as a pitts exhaust for dle or crrc 26cc. i fitted it to my model and on the 5th flight it snapped clean off the weld at the manifold the vibration caused my electronic ignition unit to dismount from the front of the engine. causeing an engine cut and resulted in a deadstick landing where the model flipped over onto it's back smahing the canopy and breaking the spark plug off. this is a very poor example of qaulity. i have attempted to contact skyartec by phone and end up with a orange answer phone ....and e mails are not being answered after several attempts .....so be warned if you buy one of these from skyartec you could well be wasteing your money. this may well be a one off bad exhaust ...but sadly due to the lack of response from skyartec i cannot confirm this. i would love to tell a different story but as it stands at the moment i feel i need to warn anyone thinking of buying one of these exhaust be careful you are not wasteing your money Edited By David Ashby - RCME on 04/08/2012 18:10:16
  9. i have not been around for a while, do you still need measuremnets for the box as the box is still under my bench intact. ? if so i will go measure it.
  10. the whole model comes apart with a philips scredriver and only takes minutes.
  11. i am building up a smashed yt 109 for the old warden fighter weekend end of july hope to complete it by next weekend.
  12. Well it looks like the committee are afraid to rock the boat. they didn't take me up on having a committee meeting to voice my concerns even though i asked them. they seem to want to deal with it by having a word in his ear. so he probably is going to get told to watch himself. and i think i should wind my neck in or i may end up on the wrong end of the situation i feel. why is it when you complain about someones behaviour to a committee they seem unintserested and you feel you should not have said anything. i feel if i keep moaning to the committee i will get them annoyed at me.
  13. i thought standing next to him and touching each shoulder or his head to indicate the direction i wanted him to go ....but it never arose he didn't return....i did hear his wife rang up complaining.
