  1. If in doubt give it a clout the bigger the doubt the bigger the clout.
  2. Posted by Myron Beaumont on 13/03/2012 21:50:37: I've two sets of the HK retracts .Why do you all fork out a fortune for the eflite ones ? I actually bought 4 off the HK... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14838 but they are rated at 4.7kg. The blackhorse Fw190 is 4.8kg...so err on safe side i went with the eflite and i have to say they are well made .. solid but there are a couple of niggle for elfite to address motor wires are easy to break off and are not protected..they are coated in silicon so a bit difficult to solder. if you tighten up all the screws, at least on mine, the overload protection kicks in and does not move the gear..kepp it "nipped" and its fine so the cheap ones from Hk wil do as a back up when i am flying. best of both worlds
  3. Must admit i purchased the eflite 120's and added the oloes i had in the kit for my blackhorse fw190. only need to open the aluminium collet to take a 5mm hardened shaft ( borrowed from a motor) couple of flats added and works an absolute treat. Only issue i have had is one of the worm gears has backed out the cam...not big issue and should be easy sorted.
  4. sorry to hear about the uc Stephen. I do like Kens idea on the glass fibre, will do that myself as I have ripped off the uc on the Cap232 due to a muddy field Roll on summer and landing strips that are a bit more solid. On a seperate note weather up here in Scotland not looking too good for the weekend
  5. 2 great days of flying, 7 mph on Satuday but with relatively low cloud and no gusts to worry about. Wind was straight down the landing strip. Sunday again 7 C but wind gusts upto 20 mph and at least the cloud was a bit higher, forecast was for clear skys. Maybe one day they will get it right. Work on Monday will not be as much of a chore after 2 good days flying
  6. Hi Stephen, the nemisis looks great. I am sure you will have loads of fun and as you say it needs to be flown in. Maidened my Cap 232 a couple of weeks back, need to do a bit of work with the cog. Did you have any issues with the thrust angle as set by Seagull?
  7. Runay had 3 inches of snow which was flatened by my car adn others to give a flat but soemwhat slippy runway. Lots of flights with Druines, Cap 232, ST MX2, Gladiator, Wot 4, and 2 helis all without incident. A great days flying in -2 but Sunny conditions. Windy was a bit blustery 16-20 mph but was blowing down the runway so lots of harriers , almost VTOL. Time to thaw out me thinks
  8. Hi Stephen, yep some epoxy round the uc on your nemisis will not go amiss, weak area on all ARTF planes in my opinion. I was running an SC52 so maybe a bit more weight upfront as I did not need to add any weight to rear of the nemisis in fact i had my lipo up front rather than in the rear battery compartment.   Our landing strip can get a bit bumpy especially at this time of year but its nice an open and no one to complaian about the noise from IC aircraft/helis screaming around as we often do. The vid was taken after harvest so the landing strip was reduced in length to strore hay bails. LOL something else to crash into.   Good luck with putting your nemisis throughts its paces, it woudl be good to hear how you progress,
  9. Hi Stephen I also found teh Nemisis needed to be flown in with some throttle, i uploaded a you tube vid of my maiden and you will see what happens when you dont have enough speed  Check out   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpteaxGRxng       Maidened the Cap today, its needing a bit of trim on the elevator, interesting your comment on the elevator servos working a diff speed, i had the same prob and needed to use the computer fucntions to sort. I think I will need to play about with the throw lengths to sort this out. Need to move the COG back abit I think as the nose was dropping when i put full power on as I assume the thrust angle will have been set at factory.   Good days flying anyway but a bit cold up here in Scotland
  10. well done stephen, pity you ended up with a broken uc, although mine also broke on a heavish landing on its second flight, sorry to hear your throws were a bit fierce, did you set it up with recommended throws from manual as i found them good for the maiden.   i am going away to maiden my cap232 tomorrow so will interesting to compare this with the nemesis
  11. ok guys I really fancy the hype and was wondering on opinions of electric set ups. preferably on 3s 2200mah from my trex 450pro along with 60amp esc. If anyone has positive experience i woudl welcome their thoughts,
  12. Hi stephen I woudl welcome your views when you get teh nemisis finished on the flying characteristics of the rocket versus nemisis. How did the rocket go together. Also saw on your photo album you have a seagull cap 232, how did you find taht kit and how did she fly, as my friend is looking at this model on 120 size.
  13. Thanks for that Stephen. The fuse as you righly state is a bit light and the damage to mine is going to take more time than I care to spend. I have read elsewhere that going over the fuse with some ca does strengthen her up, so I am away to buy a new kit and do that, Hey I will have a bucket of spares for the next incident.   I had the COG just about spot on from the build, and I was using a voltage reg aand 2s 2500mah overlander lipo, I had also installed an auto glow starter, so with the extra wieght up front i was surprised that the COG was not impacted but not having the battery all the way back in the tail. I like my models slightly tail heavy and i only had a small trim on the aileron on the maiden.   The kit does look great in the blue, so when you gonna start the build? It does go together a treat.
  14. Well 4 weeks later than planned I had had the maiden today... Last weeks winds were just a bit much, gusts of 25 to 30 mph,  and today we had 1 to 2 mph winds, talk about extremes Anyway teh maiden was perfect just a few clicks of aileron and she was trimmed and flying with a real locked in feeling. This kit has been a dream to build, the intructions were easy to follow and the quality of the kit was excellant with some nice touches. thumbs up from me on this my first Seagull kit build.   I had 3 great flights one which was flimed and  I will put a link to you tube up later, however on the 3rd flight i had a situation where i have either stalled as I aborted a landing or i had one of the battery wires disconnect, either way controls were not there and I landed nose in and vert heavy. Wings are salvageable but need to rebuild fuse which will keep me busy this week.   In summary easy build and lovely flying characteristics make this one of my fav models and I would defintely recommend.
  15. Just bought one today as well.. Was between this and a Seagull 120 PC9...not much of a difference LOL... I have gone for a SC53 to pull it along so hopefuly next weekend I will have maiden and let you know how it goes.
