Thanks BEB i'll deffinately go for one of those. and i supose it will get me used to the controls.  i know all planes handle differently so the sim will never substitute the real thing but atleast a sim i can respawn the plane rather than shell out for parts on a model.

i think the training sim with control is the way forward, how accurate are they, do they operate like the real model or are they over sensitive?  there are a couple of clubs around here. in all honesty the trainer will be the best thing for now. i get married on 30th, we head back to the states soon after, so i would be better buying a model over there and joining one of the local clubs in NC....in concord of all places. but i wouldn't ship a plane back here, i would however buy a plane here so i have something to do if i have to return here. Guys i'm looking for a trainer. i seen this one http://www.modelflying.co.uk/classifieds/view_ad.asp?ad=2692 in classifieds, price is right...i think? its a high wing so i think this is the one for me and its not a million miles away. i simply need to find the money now. question is....how easy is it to crash these things? yep you read it right! i kinda figured your sick of seeing the question ''how hard to fly?''  i'm a mechanic in real life i operated heavy machinery (diggers) for a few years too so my hand eye coordination it quite good. all i have to do is get it off the ground and play with it....thats the theory i have! bit like throwing yourself overboard a ship when you cant swim! you soon learn!  i do want to build a kit, a mick reeves kit, 1/4 scale spit (i know i mentioned i dont wanna spit! who doesn't?) but that will be a while from yet! cant afford that one yet, need to get back to the states and earn some money.  what can you guys offer in way of advise? fire it up and sed it up or what?
  5. hey thanks guys, high wing is that like a lockheed U2? thats pretty high lol. haha i know what you mean. those trainers are expensive.  oh i can fly btw, just come back from the states on a plane. i didn't pilot but i wasn't on the ground hahaha. Edited By Colt45GTO on 14/10/2010 18:52:09
  6. haha Thanks for the welcome John,if we all wanted the same thing then how boring would model air shows be?... commentator...... here is a spit owned by nobby, here is a spit owned by derek, here is a spit owned by......where you lot off? i love old war birds of any description. my favorate is actually a b52. but i never flown before so i wouldn't build one of those to go smash it to bits on some poor beggers head in the middle of a field lol.
  7. Hi All, Newb here but not to forums. i'm interested heavily in engineering on any scale, but things that defy gravity then i'm real interested. i want to build a plane of my own, a war bird, everyone wants a spitfire because ''they won the war'' ... no they didn't! they were indeed a great plane, but the Hurricane served longer and claimed more victims... i think? so yes i want a sopworth camel! NOT! Any will do, Hurricane or spitty, i want a scratch built, or just the plans and build my own. that way i can cry like a baby when it goes wrong out in the field lol. so yes this is me.
