  1. An interesting article TinPot. Always enjoy reading the old articles. Seem so dated now but an insight into a differant period of aviation history. Thank you. I am looking at gathering information for a possible own design future project. I photographed an example in full detail a few months ago and keep looking at the pictures. I had seen the "competitions" offering but it isnt very scale in outline. I just fancy something more scale.
  2. A bit of an ugly duckling but........................ Wondering if anybody has or is aware of a decent set of scale drawings for the Percival Prentice that includes fuselage cross sections. Many thanks in advance. Regards Martin
  3. Still many interesting comments that you are all adding to the discussion. Danny your Apache looks stunning, I hope I can achieve something half as good. One project I have wanted to do for a long time is slowly nearing the time to start. I have been given access to numerous manufacturers drawings for the type. This includes all formers, side views, information on the differant nose and fuselage rear end shapes along with nacelle structures and much more. All the drawings are to differant scales and are some complex shapes. I think once mastered CAD could make for easier and more accurate work. Watch this space as they say.
  4. And there is highlighted the wonderfull thing about our hobby something for everyone. Rubber or not I love drawing with pencil and paper and for a while yet will be continuing to do so. I have some exciting plans I want to draw and really have the bug to crack on with them. At the same time though I also see the advantages of CAD and will learn the task. I think its TurboCAD for me. A reasonable price, I like the idea of the course which Danny mentions and I think this weekend some money will be spent and we will be setting off on learning a new skill. Wtahc this space as they say.
  5. An interesting point you make about guide books being a generation thing Graham. Some of the programmes I am looking at have guide books available for purchase others don't and that is something that could potentially be a contributing factor in my decision. Interesting that TurboCAD was mentioned early on as that is one of the candidates.
  6. I am looking to restart designing my own near scale models and rather than sitting with pencil and paper in front of me I am looking at learning CAD. Can anyone offer advice on programmes, reading material to learn the subject and general advice etc etc. I have done a bit of reading on other forums and I am starting to narrow down the programmes which appeal for ease of use and also cost but would be interested to hear thoughts from users on this forum. Many thanks in advance
  7. Hello David, I am Mr RAM Models for want of a better title. Peter kindly sent me an email me this evening pointing me to your comments. Firstly apologies for not getting back to you. We experienced a problem with our email server (please don't ask for further details as I am not computer minded at all) and it appears that we may have "lost" some emails. We were originally looking to have the Turbulent released during February, however time spans have slipped slightly due to working on getting a couple of our other products released. As Peter said we are now looking at getting the wood cut and as soon as I have delivery dates back from our chosen company I will post details here. We also produce our own range of walkaround Cd's for modellers and I have been granted access to a full-size Turbulent to photograph and it will be an addition to our range in coming weeks. It might be an aid for people in adding some extra detail here and there, just remember to keep it light David (or indeed anyone else), if you want to be kept up to date please drop me a PM or an email and we will add you to the mailing list to advise of what is happening with the Turbulent and other planned releases. We are a small company that has just set up. Our core business is at present for the plastic modeller. However we have some exciting R/C designs lined up for release as plans & plan packs over the next 18 months from a number of recognised designers. Watch this space as they say. 8. Hello All,   Does anybody have contact details for Cyrill Carr ? email, via a forum or old fashioned means.   ta in advance   Regards Martin
  9. Many thanks for the information chaps. Appreciate all the comments.   IIRC Radio Control Scale Aircraft Quarterly did a review of the Bulldog and it received a rather good review. They all looked rather nice, neat little models.   Firefly looked a corker also.
  10. Hello   I wondered what ever happened to Chiltern Models.   In the late 80' - early 90's they produced a neat range of Bulldog, Provost & Chipmunk. Later they went large scale & did a Firefly & FW190.   Is he company still active, if not does anyone have contact details for the person who ran it ?   Any information posted or PM'd would be appreciated.   Many thanks in advance   Regards Martin
  11. Don't worry Ian I will drop you a PM with my details on.   Regards Martin
  12. Most certainly can Ian if you let me have some details I will get it sorted asap.   Regards Martin
  13. Looking for originals or copies of any Fournier plans on the market. Especially wanting Bill Burkinshaw, Duncan Hutson & Mick Reeves offerings.   Can swap for free plans of Tony Nijhuis 72inch Spitfire, Lysander, David Boddington Blackburn Monoplane amongst others.   Regards Martin
  14. Hello Ian,   Do you mean the Cyrill Carr plan ?   If so I have it. Drop me a PM and we can sort something out.   Regards Martin
  15. A slight name change with the oners of the above pictured one. Now known as Classic Flight but still based at Coventry Airport.   Not a flyer at present but on display with Classic Flight www.classicflight.com   Visited last year and she was in the hanger with the outer wing panels removed.   Didn't Mike Trew or Mike Smart fly one on the scale circuit a few years ago ?
  16. Rob Millinship wrote about the DB Sport & Scale kit. The article's spread over a number of issues were in Radio Control Scale Aircraft Quarterly.   He modelled the aircraft as P7350 one of the BBMF baby Spits in the Observer Corps colorscheme complete with glossy finish. A stunner in every respect.
  17. Hello All,   I hope that people wont mind my first post being a hello and also an ask for help.   I recently purchased a set of moulds for a Hispano Buchon from ebay, and I am trying to discover the history behind the item.   I hope that I dont annoy by posting a link to another forum below. If so please let me know and I can delete.   http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=104286   Following a lead suggested on the above forum it has now been suggested by that contact that I should try to seek contact with a John Siddall. John was involved with the Battle of Britain Film and worked under the director of special effects whose name was Jack Carter. I have no futher information on John Siddall other than that he was present at the British Nats approx three years ago with Ron Moulton.   If anyone can forward me contact details or pass on my email address I would be most interested gratefull. Cracking forum btw and 2011 is the year I stop talking about learning but actually go forth and fly.  Regards Martin Garrett    Edited By David Ashby - RCME Administrator on 30/10/2010 07:10:16
