  1. I bought a Wombat kit from them at the Nats. Unfortunately, they may be ceasing kit production due to competition from ARTF's. Which is a shame, at it's the last UK Kit manufacturer who still does/did the shows. Still they could have a Web page, but they don't and I said they would increase sales if Priory models even had some sort of web presence. They are quite easy models to build, and all have jig-build fuselage assemblies all done, and the case of the Wombat, quite a bit of aligning work has been done for you.
  2. Strangely, I seem to have more Mustangs than any one model. I have 2x WM Mustangs, on unbuilt. 1 Jamara Miss America 1 Jamara Miss America, now rebuilt/recovered as "Blue Nose" 1 Hanger 9 120 sized Mustang 1 electric 400 sized "Flying Legends" They are all good flyers. Also didn't know YT have them back in stock. Edited By Paul Marsh on 25/09/2011 08:08:08
  3. Won't be that hard to electrify it. It's a standard bulkhead and probably would be easier to install than the engine, as less holes to cut out. In fact I did see the same make of model electrified a few years ago, fitted with a robbe brushed motor and flew well, considering it was "old fashoned" technology with nicads, etc. Here's some pics of my red one... 4. Just finished and running in my Lancair Legend I bought a few years ago from the Nats. Might as well build it and get it flying, so that's what I did. Any notes about flying it? Needs a bit of lead in the nose, a little tail-heavy. Got a OS 52 Surpass special edition Ruby engine. Which is also on Youtube,
  5. The World models one is quite good. Have the silver one for years, 500+flights from 3 owners, and still going. Comes with retracts and ideal for .52 to .61 sizes fourstrokes. Also have the red one, still in box, for later on. The Kit is £161, but that includes retracts, which are reliable and last for years. See Steve Webb models, under World Models range and type in "Mustang". This is the silver version with a ASP .61 FS, as the .52 was a little lacking, even though reliable.   Edited By Paul Marsh on 24/09/2011 10:36:01
  6. The Mig flies well, just needs a good lob. Luckily, as I fly the 'proper' mode, i.e. Mode 2, I can lob with my left whilst flying out with my right. Have a few .25 warbirds. This is the YT/Model tech one. Pity it's discontinued... Another Spit. 25FP. Is finished and flown (taken a while ago minus Canopy)
  7. How 'bout a jet? This ones a West Wings Mig 29, with a Enya SS 25 in it This is a plan-built spit:
  8. Mine goes vertical from take-off, and will just about keep going until it's a dot. The 110 is lighter than a 120, but more power than a .91, which weighs the same. WIth reference to the clevises. The aileron unscrewed, even with lock-tight. In the end, after flight adjustments, I soldered all connections - solid. Just about to do the same to my Graupner Klemm 35, which I've noticed is loose.
  9. The Wot4 XL isn't a lightweight model. It's tough enough to withstand knocks and bumps. Too light, then: # Affected by the wind and gusts, making it hard to track right. # Would be too weak, and suffer from weak undercarriage mounts and other issues # Using a large engine (as most people will inc Petrol) under a weak airframe would pull itself apart. and get complaints from modelers, saying it broke up <moan> It's about right, strong as a kit, but has some mass, but not too much to ruin it's performance. The pic was taken at Wales, on a very slow and low pass, the 110 at a low tick-over. No flaps, but still goes at walking pace. The stall is non-existant, unless you really yank the stick... I don't think mine's 8 1/2 lbs. I'm using a lighter engine, a 110 sized engine, which weighs the same as a .91FS. By using petrol - heavier, will push up the loading a bit and impair performance.
  10. Mine's got an OS Alpha 110 in it. When is the larger 50cc version coming out?   Edited By Paul Marsh on 17/09/2011 22:32:45
  11. I've got one, flys well, now. On the first flight it was way tail-heavy, also on full power the nose pitched up. Had to use full down trim and half forward stick to stop it going over. Also on turns, needs loads of ail/rudder to boot. (now with 45 % ail/rudder mix.) Flew it round for a few mins, struggling, but rather than land it, got it sorta stable, then landed. Ok. Back in the workshop I moved the battery right forward, and put more down thrust and more right thrust. Flew much better, and even chucked it round, doing rolling circuits on the 2nd flight. It;s got a SC91FS, so over-powered, but needs a heavier engine. I don't know how and why you kept crashing yours, but hope it goes well, when repairs are complete Actually, the P-51 in the background was a repair after black wire lost radio. Wings snapped in three, and nose ripped off. Recovered after repairing, now a 2nd life after 10+years as Miss America. Now it's a "Moonbeam Mc'swine" Edited By Paul Marsh on 17/09/2011 21:58:19 Edited By Paul Marsh on 17/09/2011 22:03:04
  12. I'll be going. Went last year. Had good weather. Will take the Stampe and other models.
  13. I also fly both. Agreed the electric motor has no soul, and the enthusiasm isn't the same as a glow motor. The engine is a machine, and I like a 10LA to a 5 cylinder os radial. I just love the growl of a 120 four stroke. Although I prefer I/c, I have quite a few electric models. The biggest is a Druine Ackrobat, but most are Park zone size and Ultra micro models. I just love the cuteness of them, and I can fly them in the park, when there is no wind. The Wot4e has had quite a few flights, and also one can fly in the Hanger at the Nats.
  14. Link in box Ugh! Nasty servos. looks like very poor build quality. I go with the LMS's comment as being true. A servo can destroy a model, or worse go into people/property and do damage.   I would recommend, if any doubt, discontinue use and buy a better unit Edited By Paul Marsh on 05/09/2011 23:54:59
  15. I bought mine from a Swopmeet. for £15! Was virtually brand new, with box and two OS F plugs. Hasn't missed a beat since I had it. Powerful, quiet and smooth running. If you seem me fly a Seagull 40 low wing model, that's what's it's in. Also have two 91's and again are good engines. The newer 130 seems a viable option in a 120 fs underpowered Stampe...
  16. Just using my normal fuel that I use for all my glows. Sport 5. Not sure what it's going in, yet. Was going in my Seagull Decathlon, which had a Alpha 81, then was taken out to put in my YT Zlin50L. Now just bought a Saito 80 Black Knight on this site's Classified ads. I've got a Seagull Sparrowhark, the small on. It says 90-120 4 Stroke. a 95 is bang on.
  17. It worked!!! Did I do that, or was it you helping me? It is possible to delete the previous thread? The internet here is less than 50k per sec. I used IE this time and 5 minutes later the page updated... oh dear.   Been running the engine today. It's on Youtube.   Hand started on second flick. Gave it a really good prime and blew the excess through the plug. It seemed dry out the box. Powerful engine and smooth. Edited By Paul Marsh on 05/09/2011 14:17:19
  18. I've had quite a few Futaba 3003 servos fail. Now don't use them. Was flying a YT Mustang racer, and wondered why I couldn't pull up. Luckly it was just on the up. Got down with minor damage to the cowl. The servo had just burnt out and jammed solid. Also had some others keep chattering. Horrible nasty servo - chucked them all away, saves losing a model, or worse. They weren't the "Fake" ones, original.  A model went in vertical at the club today, smashed the Tutor 40Mk2 up. There was fake 3003 servos in, but the model I think stalled in. The fake 3003's seemed to be working. I noticed they were fakes, but why do people use cheap servos, and wonder why their model goes in? Talking of LMA and Much Marcle. I thought larger models have redundancy built in. On anything larger than 20cc, and even smaller models, have two elevator servos, independently of each other. Lose one, then at least the model has some control. 19. I'm using Opera on Linux. Probably not compatible with the system here. Actually I fancy getting the Sky Surfer. a little larger than the sky runner. Be easier to see and handle the wind better.
  20. I only need to account for myself. Sometimes i can spend 5K a year, but spent a less this year, as my house is full of planes and engines, and have to cut back on the airframes for now. Buying more 2.4 stuff, to replace the 35Mhz stuff...
  21. the internet here is so slow. when i post, the isp locks out, sometimes not linking properly. Anyway it is a good flyer and the follow-up model Xtra 300 is based in the same idea - just 4 channels (ailerons) My ISP crashed again, and only posted part-message. I know it's a bit late, messed up my message. Edited By Paul Marsh on 03/09/2011 21:33:21
  22. No. They are rubbish. It sorta flies, but actually harder to control than a trainer. I'd get one of these. It's 2.4 actually a good flying plane, bounces well, and you can get any part of the plane as a spare. need a prop, tailplane, all available. Also you can extra batteries. this Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 03/09/2011 21:11:49 Edited By Paul Marsh on 03/09/2011 21:12:20
  23. I bought the new OS 95 four stroke last weekend. Going to give it a run and see how well ot goes compared to the 91. There is also a 62 size just come out. Anybody have these new engines?
  24. There was one on London Road in the 90's. Was ok, but Model Shop Leeds is still the best in the area. Gee Dee and Hobbystores in Nottingham are the nearest.
  25. I bought a 120 FS silencer for £5, which I lost a month ago. That saves £20+ plus. Bargain. also bought a Nine Eagles Xtra 300 for £40 new, which I'd been looking for a while, half price from rrp. Saved myself from buying too much, but got the new Parkzone Polecat and Stryker. Both will fly tomorrow. Also managed to get one of the Cessna 337 at £60 from Al's. Always wanted one, and he had the last one, from the shop, slightly damaged fin, but all complete. New buys was a OS 95V, some digital servos, a Hitec 2.5 RX, batteries and a 2.4 module and rx's for getting my JR X-347 on 2.4. Also loads of sundries, such as propellers, boxes of bits and bought a MK1 OS Wankel off a friend. Finally a Wombat froM Priory Models. Felt sorry for them, as they might stop making models and shows, as one of the last British Kit builders closes its doors.
