I've got 2 Mascots, one still original I built as a first RC IC model in the early 90's. another same scheme just newer as the old one is rough, and also have a brand new kit in box I bought for £10, including covering. I actually made a another one, years ago, a copy with built-up wings, extra 2 inch of wing span and flaps. Flew well, but decided to sell it - which I regret as it was a one-off and unique.

Came in the kit.

I wouldn't use 35mhz rx's in models now , not because the frequency but knowing they haven't been made for over 25 years(would you trust a 40 year old rx in a expensive and large model), and as said the older ones used components such as chokes and capacitors that would have degraded somewhat now, and these rx's where much more intolerant of vibration, unlike later 35 mhz surface mount and new 2.4 ones. Though I flew a RC model at a fly in, with a 40 year old Sanwa 35 mhz rx and passed range checks ok, as well a flight of a model no problems - but still...

I have 3 OS Ultimates. Bit of a fiddle to get running right, especially as it pressurises the tank and need a strong tank and pipe system.

Steve Webb Models - gone.
Paul Marsh replied to Steven Hurd's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
I first went to SWM before I could even drive - and actually cycled the 26 miles from Congleton to Frodsham to visit the shop. Occasionally when we were out with the family I managed to pursuade my dad to do a detour to the shop and bought my first OS40FP engine then and JR 517 servo with the little money I had then (My dad bought the 517 servo as I didn't have enough) and Steve Webb actually remembers it, as he was serving the shop back then - we talked about it a couple of weeks ago. So I have been going to the shop 35 years or so and feel I've lost a friend... -

Durafly Vampire "V3" available from HK, well sort of.

I've still got the other 3, recently flew the Canadian one, though the special edition one not flown in years and still hanging at the back of the shed. Only issue should have used a 12 blade fan not the inefficient 5 blade and out of date one- ok back in the day, but all new edf's are now using 11-12 blade fans. -
Ashbourne Scale Day 2024

Just taking smaller sport scale models - enough to whet flying appetite but not too awkward to put away quickly. -

Your most unliked engine , petrol, glowor diesel.
Paul Marsh replied to Engine Doctor's topic in IC Engines
I bought a Fuji engine brand new from a shop in Manchester in the 90's. Never could get it to run, useless, not one pop. Was in a delta but threw the engine away afterwards. Next useless engine was a RCV 60SP. Runs ok, but has the power of a weak .25. Was in a Acro Wot, but could barley fly no higher and not great. Still have the engine and keep it as collection, the Acro Wot still going has a much better OS70FS in it. -

MDS - have a few... Actually have a mk1 MDS 40 and always been a good engine. remember it was in a Flair Cub and had a huge tank in it, enough to fly an hour - which it did and ran the tank dry after an hour. -
