  1. Hi Tom,   Following is a link to my website with my Sbach's project including all prices for bits and pieces: https://sites.google.com/site/amchobby/projects.   Hopefully that may help you to budget for the project.     Tom; Sbach x Extra 300 As Adrian mention landing the plane is a easy task due to wing spam I believe. I guest its an intermediate-advance skilled plane to fly. Is a happy plane on knife edges and do all the aerobatics including prop hang.I also have an Extra 300 which is probably a bit more aerobatic than the Sbach. Go for the one you fancy! At the end the day if you not competing you would not feel the difference in terms of flying capabilities... if you competing I really like the Yak but is down to preference.   One thing though the Sbach is a very pretty plane!!! people in the club love it!   cheers,   Alan
  2. Hi All,   I have had 1 Sullivan smoke pump over a year and died then I've bought a second one back in January 2011 and yesterday went to the field and guest what? The pump was dead.   I check batteries level, blockages, everything.... The pump was gone!   Now a took both pumps back to the model shop and they will talk to the distributor in the UK. Some facts: 1. The pump cost around £120 in the UK. (I just found out that hobbyking has them for just over £46...   2. Found some alternatives and wonder if anyone has them to give some feedback: 2a. Slimline (looks the same as Sullivan) 2b. Powerbox smoke pump; Expensive, but if works then I rather expend my hard owned money on them.   Have you got experience with them? Videos? I would love to see the RC magazine to cover an article about smoke oils, pumps, size of engines, etc.     Cheers,   Alan     @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  3. hummmm.... you may like to cheat ))) ... have a look on FY-20A (stabilization system)... if you have trouble to land in wind that may help....why not?   I use the system to teach my nephew even though we use a body box. When the wind conditions are not that good he can fly with the system on or off... doesn't matter.... with the system on I don't need to take over from time-to-time but the system is key when comes to land and he is so grateful to do himself! by the way he is only 7 years old and do not come offence to the club... so the system makes a great day out for him!   I have the system on my Wot4 and and I can turn off, 3D mode or just stabilization.... so... you decide what you want! You need a spare channel for it.   By the way the system it's no cheap but maybe cheaper than to buy another kit.   Some people in the club is loving the idea as they have some sake hands sickness and it may help some to go back flying and having a happy landing!   Just a thought!   Cheers,     @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  4. Hi Frank,     Thanks for your reply.   Due to feedbacks on this thread I am moving the A123 to my other plane with no regulator.   Now, as I've mention I've got a lipo which I can easily remove for charging and I wanted something capable to give me constant current and enough capacity to operate my servos and my Sullivan pump.   I've noticed that now when using servos the current voltage drops from 6.0v while moving it and my DX8 alarm goes off every time that happens. So, I can't configure my DX8 at 6.0v as everytime my servos drain power it goes down on current and it bips.   As my pump when on I can see on my on-board battery checker that nothing happens and I believe that the pump is not draining much.   That's where I am at this moment.     Cheers,   Alan @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  5. Right Guys,   I have changed the battery for a lipo 2200mah 2c 7.4v and wonder what would be my alarm on DX8 now?   What's the safe minimum voltage to get the plane to land?     cheers,   Alan @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  6. Hi Frank,   The A123 is a 6.6v battery and not 7.2v (at least is what is printed on the battery label.). The idea to use a regulator is to give constant 6.0v to all servos. I was using two RX Packs of 6v Nimh in parallel but this meant I had a lot more weigh to carry in flight. Also, having a on-board battery checker, when the batteries drop just a bit (I could see on the on-board checker before flying) then flying pushing the plane on 3D with quick roles for example I use to get quick alarms from the transmitter meaning that the servos was draining the battery to a point that I though I was risking to loose connection with my receiver.   Regards how much the pump requires in terms of amps I have no idea. I have visited Sullivan's website and there are no technical data on this but the pump operates from 4.8v to 12v nominal.     Cheers,   Alan

Now, my plane (Sbach 342 28cc) has 6 Savox servos SC0254mg which will be powered by this battery and I have some of the following questions:   1. The DualSky voltage regulator has to "outcome" cable which one is connected to my receiver and the other one I am thinking to connect my Sullivan Sky Writer pump. So far I had a separate battery to the pump, I wonder if my new system would cope and for how long? (why I am thinking to have everything running on this battery? To save weight) by the way I have another battery for my petrol engine which I will keep it.   2. I have a DX8 with telemetry on this plane which gives me the battery level and I can program an alarm for battery low voltage. What would be a secure low voltage on the above battery?   To see my whole project and some videos of my plane please visit my website where you can also find my project with links, costs, etc.     Thanks!   Alan Bahia     Edited By Alan Bahia on 28/04/2011 15:40:14 Edited By Alan Bahia on 28/04/2011 15:41
  8. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Doug,   Yes, you can use a on/off harness connect to your battery and connected to your batt/bind port at the receiver. harness option   Every time you want to bind just plug the bind plug on the harness charging port.     cheers,   Alan @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By Alan Bahia on 16/04/2011 00:24:11
  9. Going straight to the point why I live the system and how I'm using it.   1. Flying a bigger plane where servos drain quite a lot from the batteries in flight it is usefull to have my transmitter vibrating and have a sound to alert me to land save. So I don't need to be looking the screen.   2. I can check the batteries level before flying and have a sort of idea if safety or not.   3. I can also, check my ignition level of battery as my large aerobatic plane with somke system and so on i'ts a bit heavy and would not glide in for a deadstick landing.... we have a sort runway and not good to land around realy! So, I have a alarm here too. Make things safe to everyone!   4. I can read the engine temperature and know when hot enough to use my smoke!!! Would make a difference without it... off course not! but helps you to identify when hot enough to also work on needle valvule.   5. Can read RPM, work on performance, best prop etc. You can see the screen as you don't need to be flying...   Now, I'm looking forward for additinal devices such as telemetry to read fuel level.     Why not to make things safer for pilots and people around? Am I a sort of geek person...you can say yes!   At the moment I'm the only one in the club with DX8 and I'm loving it!     Last week we have had a crash with someone flying 35mhz... wrong plane on the transmitter!!! all controls inverted... to confident...did not check controls before flying..... accident happens... loads people talking.... etc.... DX8 or my previous DX7... no problems!     There you go... I'm in favor of this growing technology!     happy landigs!
  10. Hi Eric, Some tips here; 1. Have a look on the battery level connected to your receiver. Low voltage may cause a temporally lost of connection and surely a cause of accidents. 2. Before you fly I'd do the a range test if you didn't do as yet. 3. Also, have a look for any "funny instalation" with cables, metals around your receiver. Make sure you have everything well tidy inside your plane.     I'd say you may not have tail heavy; if tail heavy your pilot friend would feel specially on the take off! The take off looks good to me.   If none of the above then I'd say most likely a pilot error. Lost of orientation!   I would not go for a tip stall as the plane on eletric power should be very forgiven..instead a nitro one!     Hope that helps!

    Suspect !!

    I got the same crap email.   Said well want £250 in my helli but you can send me a cheque of £1.000.000...hahahah he gave up... don't know why ))))     @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  12. This is my lasted video... I wasn't aware that my club's chair is a millionaire and drive a Ferrari! ))
  13. Hi Guys,   I have just updated my website.   New pictures available!     Enjoy!   Alan Bahia @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  14. Now my friend mention the problems is with all planes...@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  15. Hi All,   A friend today come over to have a look on his plane as he has a issue with settings and I could not find the solution for his problem as following:   1. Left stick: Rudder and Elevator 2. Right stick: Throttle and ailerons   We try different receivers, we label the cables, I have reset the transmitter model 4, re-bind and still the same.   Normal would be:   1. LS: Throttle and rudder 2. RS: Elevator and Ailerons   Mix are also all off, flapron...and other sttings all off....so I don't know how he managed to changed this....   The other planes are all right....   Any Futabas expert out there please? I have a Spektrum.     Cheers,   Alan     @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
