  1. The head and neck have been attached to the body. The first alignment of the wing with the body and a bit more progress adding the rear leading edges and front bottom leading edges.  More details and pictures can be found on my blog: http://mjc70.blogspot.com/
  2. Until I pick up a couple of servos for the wing, I've commenced work on he Pterodactyl Head and Neck. The first stage was pushing all the laser cut head and neck parts out from their respecitive sheets ready for assembly. Two hours later, the result was something like this, albeit the picture here doesn't show the bottom head sheet inserted. More details and assembly steps can be seen on my blog: http://mjc70.blogspot.com  I'll move onto the body next and keep you posted on progress.
  3. I paid £25 extra to the HMRC in March Dave before they would deliver the kit to my address.
  4. I've made a little more progress with my wing as detailed on my blog.  http://mjc70.blogspot.com/ It Includes a few more pictures and a video of the first test of the motors installed in the wing. Still plenty more to do before this bird flies though! I'll keep you posted.
  5. Yeah, I got stung for the import duty similar to Tony. It's not a cheap kit and I remember when I opened the box I thought to myself "is that it!". I'm not sure whether it's going to be any cheaper buying it from Germany to be honest with you. I guess they will charge you import duty too?  Having started to build the kit I'm impressed with the quality of the laser cuts and everything has gone together very nicely so far. I've just done a bit more on the wing and have the bug to crack on with the build now!  I first learn't about this kit from the RC Radio Network. You can download the podcast from the following location and it's well worth a listen:  http://www.rcradionetwork.com/shows/show_02222011.php  Not sure if you've listened to this Tony?
  6. Chris, you can find the kit as follows: http://www.pteroworks.com/ptero_52.htm  CheersMatt http://www.mjc70.blogspot.com/
  7. Hi Tony and all other watchers of this thread. I'm watching on with great interest on the progress of Terry! I've just started my 52" Marston Pterodactyl and will post updates on this thread too. Not wanting to swamp Tony's progress on here, I'm documenting my build on my blog which can be seen as follows: http://mjc70.blogspot.com/ Obviously feel free to view this and comment with any tips which you might have. Now I'm underway with the build, I intend to update this regularly leading towards hopefully videoing the maiden flight. Tony and I have also privately discussed meeting up (as we live relatively close to each other) and getting the UK twitchers interested about a breeding pair of Pterodactyls flying over the Midlands area!
  8. I've read on the Eflite Carbon Z Yak 54 thread on RC Groups that people have been having issues with this plane. Of those people on here, have you had any problems with servos, motor mounts etc which seem to be cropping up on the RC Groups thread. I'm seriously considering buying this plane and just wanted to know peoples thoughts a couple of months on now the flying season is getting into swing. Thanks.
  9. Here's a video I took of a club mates Eflie Extra 300 maiden flight. Lovely model.
  10. I've had a DX8 since February 2011 and have had well over 100 flights with it now without any issue. I've read on other forums that people have had problems with their AR6200 (brown outs), but I've tested my 6200 with about 10 flights and have not had any problems. I mainly use AR500s and have the one AR8000 with the telemetry module which came with the DX8. I updated to the 2.01 firmware as soon as this was made available, not because I had any issues, simply as I like to keep these sort of things updated. I upgraded from a DX6i and find the DX8 to be a great transmitter. It's very easy and intuitive to program.
  11. Video of my ST Model Blaze with a GoPro camera. Front and rear views.   Edited By Tim Mackey - Administrator on 04/05/2011 09:00:49
  12. Thanks for the comment Allan. I've recently purchased the GoPro and managed to get it from America (courtesy of a good friend visiting his daughter). It was £140 buying it from the States as opposed to £290 for exactly the same thing here in the UK. Rip off Britain or what!! I was amazed how the WOT4 Foam-E handled the extra weight with attaching the camera. In fact, I think having the extra weight actually makes it more stable and you can still throw the plane around!
  13. My latest video of my WOT4 Foam-E with a GoPro camera mounted between the under carriage  http://youtu.be/6LamN8L35Zg?hd=1 Edited By Matthew Chamberlain on 07/04/2011 13:13:03
