I have made up the correct lead for the tx - rx link. I have downloaded the file for my X6R (X8R_150115.rar) and put it onto the sd card-FIRMWARES Lib. Go onto correct page on taranis, select the correct file press enter and nothing happens. Do I need to power up the rx with an external battery? Graham

Morning all, A darkened room was certainly needed. Spent some time on Sunday going through some of my receivers and also getting reaqainted with the Taranis. So far I have only 1 rx that won't bind - X6R. I guess that this one needs a change of firmware. Graham

Good evening all, Having got back a working Tx with a basic setup what's next? Do I need to build a load that includes Eu and the other bits I left off. I haven't tried any of my receivers yet Graham

The hurricane was my 1st choice but I had the Spitfire instead as there was no Hurries in stock. If it's not going to be for a couple of months I would have one. They can be electric I hope.     Edited By Graham Russell on 11/01/2017 20:17:24

Doh Doh Doh Just switched on after a little charge, system now working. With All this trying out over the last few days I have drained the battery. (because system not working, I was not able to see the battery status). Tonight it will have a good charge. After that - sort out the original problem - eu or non eu , receivers etc. Thanks to everybody for your time spent so far, very much appreciated. .

Ah good point andy. because of no display I can't ee battery condition going to put it on charge now

I'm sorry Andy, what I am trying to say is that the Tx dies after selecting write. It never gets to the next screen. If I wait a few seconds before I select Write, the Tx dies. Graham

Andy - boot loader is ver 2.0.12 Peter I did that the 1st time but now when I switch on and if I'm lucky I get that screen display and I select write - the screen goes blank and the machine gunnies starts. thats all that happens until I switch off.

I did that Andy. If I switch on now with trims l/r display - writefw start up screen displays file name. if I don't do anything, after about 10secs screen goes blank then noise starts I then power off disconnect battery reconnect battery switch on - nothing except noise

Chris. I'm not getting that message any more since installing dry-util. everything seems to go ok without errors. it's just that there is nothing there except the noise Graham

I have created a very basic build as suggested I tried installing via sd card Trims l/r etc. write firmware Displays correct file name press enter dispels writing etc. power off then on displays opentx very briefly then starts m/c gun noise. Then tried with opentx. all appears ok . power off then on - same result nothing but constant noise.

Hi Pete Loaded the SD card into the Mac card reader. Created a directory called FIRMWARES and copied a file called 'open-taranis-no-heli-massstorage-mixersmon-en.bin into it. ​Replaced the sd card back into Tx switched on with trims set selected 'write firmware' for some reason it displayed 2 file names even tho only 1 in directory ​pressed enter and now as reported I have tried booting without SD - only get the generated noise Graham

Hi Chris I think my Taranis must have died. Just did as you suggested , it started loading some software and now all that happens is the speaker sounds like a machine gun and nothing else happens.

Andy, found path setting in "set up communications" path is now set correctly. tried write firmware to tx. error message "new f/w not compatible with one currently installed" back again.

sorry Andy, Just downloaded dfu-util and installed. can't find the burn prefs in companion

Done that and it reports ' directory missing" directories on sd card are bmp, docs.firmware, models, sounds, videos, logs, eeproms and files sadie_xp.exe and sadie.exe (probably left over when i had a pc) and companion9xinstall_vt1.32.exe
