  1. I should have known better. Had 2 Flair, one built up wing, one foam. Both good builds and great to fly, but got a bit tatty in the garage and couldn't be bothered to recover, so off they went. I saw one on ebay to build but the muppet wanted £300 for it. great plane dire kit. Come back Flair.
  2. Hi all fell I needed to go into print, if nothing else to make me feel better. well I have been after a Hog for ages, built a few Flair over the years and eventually sold them on as ones interest changes. Well I have seen a couple down the field and thought, I should have kept them. So I tried to buy a kit, no one in the UK has stock. Sussex told me delivery should be in November, that was back in July. So as impatient as I am I bought one from SIG. It arrived, I'll say that, customs took the mick, box split in half, but no damage. Contacted SIG no answer. So it starts raining and I start building. Nothing like Flair, when I opened the box. Rather than write war and peace, as I easily could, let's just say they must have produced thousands of these over the years as a good few of the pressed out parts were oversize and needed trimming to the drawing, and the marked out bit had thick ink lines so you could not make out the edges. I have now reached the stage where all is built up but now needs rubbing down, as you do a lot of this on a Hog. My gripe is the standard of the wood used. I have never had a kit like it. I put my fingers through the wing panelling just removing it from the building board. It's either very hard where you can't get a pin in or so soft the pin will not hold it together. For the first time in my model building time, I will not mention the years , I actually felt like jumping on it, and binning it, but I kept thinking of the money. Never felt like that before, normally little bits go wrong, but here it was the whole build. Blood pressure coming down now, so anyone thinking of buying one don't bother.compared to Flair this kit is over priced and not in the same class. Will not be contacting SIG, seeing as I'm still waiting an answer ref the packing. looking back now I,m sure the tooling has worn so too big. They must be buying cheap grade wood, or their quality control is non exsistent. thanks Tom
  3. Hi all great to see the wonderful job done with the paint tin. Mine is covered in film. Can someone please explain how to cover with the tissue and dope. Last time I did that I was 13 year old playing with control line. And what a state I used to get in. plane flys really well, just not happy with the solar film, and now I,m building another I want a better finish. Tom
  4. I have been reading many comments on the pushy cat, so decided to build one. well I flew it for the first time today, although very apprehensive, my pal launched it and it quite happily just flew away with no vices at all. In fact my comments were "oh" as it went away. I was expecting it to dive, dip or deviate from the flight line. It went straight and level. Could not believe what a pussy cat it was. Great flight at low or high speed. landed ok with no problem, but it did drift on a bit with no wind.
  5. Hi all have decided to have ago at this old favourite, but have dug out the plans but no instructions. can someone copy and e mail them to me. thanks Tom
  6. Yes I had that wrong. Just been and changed the other way. Yes up trim loaded for level flight. roll on Wednesday. Tom
  7. Hi all I have noticed the last reply basic agreed with most of the others, that more down thrust is needed. Well I have spent the last 3/4 hr changing the thrust by 1 * so hopefully when it gets back in the air on Wednesday my heart can relax a bit, and the hands will stop shaking after the third aborted landing. thanks everyone for your help. I,ll report back Wednesday. Tom
  8. I have a servo in each wing, there were a couple at our club, one crashed for that reason. So when I built mine I added one in each wing. I checked on the balancing tool last night, and if any thing it is slightly nose heavy. so the next visit to the field will be interesting. Will try the down trim as that's the easiest test. Failing that I start playing with the engine mounts.
  9. Hi no I don't have any flaps fitted. I have built as per the large manual supplied. But I'm using an OS 46 SX rather than the Leo 40 suggested by Deagostini.
  10. Can someone help me. I have been flying for many years "B" standard. i have built a spitfire from all the monthly mags, ebay not my own. It fly,s really well and looks great in the air. The moment I try and land and ease up on revs the tail drops and it wants to gain height. Checked c of g on the machine and it looks perfect, if anything a shade nose heavy. I have landed it eventually on every occasion, but at my age the adrenalin is pumping too strongly.
  11. Hi Mike White 3 I like the pictures, and yes, the Pitts seem to be the best way forward. So how did yours fly and what issues have you had to work round. Tom
  12. Hi Jeff we have had a few down the field, and what is clear is not to trust the radio gear supplied. I was going to use my futaba gear, from another plane. Also I was going to fit a servo in each wing, and bend the undercarriage forward as these seem to nose over. From the weather for the next week or so I should move forward quite a bit. Tom
  13. Hi Jon Tried just engines, but no luck. I,m thinking of turning the engine round so the standard exhaust should fit ok. But again I have an issue of positioning the engine mount correctly. Tom
  14. Hi modellers Having read so many Deagostini Spitfire reviews, some good, some bad I thought I would have a go at building one as a winter project. So I bought a half started plane, which I am happily building at the moment. I was slowly reading my way through the building instructions which I was happy with until I got to the engine bit, which I thought I would add an OS 46AX to the build, as I have just bought one. BUT how do I get over the extension to the exhaust issue. OS appear to only sell 12 mm lengths, so can one of the many who have reach the same stage as me please help me out. Needless to say I do not have a LEO engine, and really don,t want one, Thanks Tom
