  14. Blimey! Five years out of the hobby, I come back,..... and look what you lot are all up to! A Bf 110! I want one! I've looked on the site but everything seems to have down scaled with no mention of these kits. How are you all getting them? Oh, and Hi DD & Richard Walts.
  15. There was several build threads for the 72" T.N. Lanc running on RCMF.co.uk In fact, so many they were numbered by vol.  Most were for the original version, there may still be some on there if you put it in the search, but you will have to wade through all our waffle and general chit chat in the threads! A chap called Mat (Mudflap) done a build of the newer version of the 72" Lanc on there, that one might be more worth a read and a lot easier going wading through it! Good luck.   Walts.
  16. Great Job Sandy,  Grandad looks pleased with it   Thanks Doug, that's much closer to what I thought it should be. That'll help a lot
  17. I've looked all the way through this thread hoping there would be some mention of the C of G position. I guess you don't need to mention it as you all have your plans in front of you I gave my plans away to a guy in the states that wanted to build it but was having trouble finding a copy. I decided not to build this one as I already have a 62" Hurricane, but the builds on here are looking great I want to play with the Cof G on my Hurricane, I know It's a different model, but it is 62" and well.........It is a Hurricane! My plan shows the Cof G at 78mm from the leading edge at the fus sides. This seems very far forward and requires a lot of lead! The plane also flew nose heavy and sluggish with all the weight in the nose. Ideally I want to put it at 98mm to shed some lead and make it more pleasent to fly, but I don't want to over do the C of G.  What does Tony's plan show for the C of G please? Thanks, Ian.  Edited By Walts on 18/07/2009 01:45:58
  18. When I covered the tail surfaces of the Warbirds Hurricane with sig koverall I initially used balsa loc to fix the fabric, then doped over it. The dope immediately started to 'eat' the balsa loc and the fabric started coming lose! so I doped it all on, sealed it with a few coats of 50/50 dope and it took the WBC paint no trouble. I would suspect that the dope had done the initial damage, but you appeared to have got away with it until the fabric was wetted out again with the water based WBC paint, as that dried off it must have slightly shrunk the fabric and started to lift it from the dissolved balsa loc. Really I'd say that balsa loc is only really suitable for putting on coverings that are water tight to start with......Lite span etc. then anything that is applied to the surface doesn't actually get to the sealed in balsa loc.   Walts. 19. Hi Trevor,           Not sure what you mean by coming lose? Do you mean excessive play back & forth of the legs them selfs?  I found the landing gear wire to be very soft, and even with good landings without any nose overs I find I have to constantly bend the legs forward again to get them just in front of the leading edge of the wing. It's become a routine now I do after every flight and I haven't had a nose over for ages with it since doing this, and the model has been flying for 14 months now.  You could replace the torsion wire legs for a higher grade of piano wire, and if the holes in the blocks are excessively worn you could try bushing them out with nylon inserts, or as you friend has suggested filling them with epoxy and coating the leg in grease before pushing it in so the legs can be removed for maintanence after the epoxy has gone off HTH's a little, Walts. 20.  (Sorry delta, I was typing why you were posting)   That would make interesting reading Phil, do you have the name of the book? I'll have to look out for it. I only became aware of the incident as Tor cross has become our favourite place to chill in the summer while the kids are at school (Not that we got there much last summer). It's got to be the quietist beach I've ever been to.....probably due to the lack of any sort of resort there. Not wishing to go off subject too much, this is a link to a site that mentions some of the crash sites on Dartmoor;                   http://www.legendarydartmoor.co.uk/crash_site.htm I also read a while back of a B17 returning from a mission extremely badly shot up after suffering something like 17 consecutive attacks by fighters, and attempting to make an emergency landing at Roborough air field. They over shot the runway and all perished. It might be a subject to base my B17 on..........I like local history.   Walts.
  21. Anyone?........I'd still really like to see them
  22. I was talking to my wife about this very subject recently and we plan to go searching the crash sites on Dartmoor. Not much left worth salvaging and in anycase, It is against the law here to remove any a/c wreakage from the moors, Not that that stopped some scum bag from stealing the memorial plaque to a B17 crew that crashed and died there. But it would give walking the moor's a bit more meaning with something to actually search for. Off the shore of Tor cross heavily loaded ships were sunk whilst practicing for the D day landings by a U boat that sneaked in, with a great loss of life to the American soldiers on board. A Sherman tank stands in the small carpark of this tiny sea side village that was salvaged from the ship wreck, can you imagine what else must be lying down there just off the shore! I reackon the sea hides the lions share of all wrecks, ships, armour and aircraft.
  23. Chaps,           I've done a search a couple of times on here for different aircraft and have ended up with similar results. This time I searched CMP Zero and ended up here! Quite frustrating really, as I presume the coments relate to someones pictures but theres no link back to them Am I missing something...Any help appriciated. Cheers, Walts.
  24. Didn't even notice it Erfolg    I'm just not very good at this spelling malarky full stop! Got interupted on my last post to answer the door to the postie, and my new UH's order turned up! 9 calender days from order with the cheapest postal option..........just reminded me once again it's still a pleasure doing buisness with them
  25. I recently got charged £8 for delivery of a Dual sky Breeze!  If you don't know, the Breeze comes as a flat pack of depron parts on a card in a plastic bag. I know the shop have got to take reasonable care to protect against damage of this very delicate depron kit, But it was quite comical when it turned up in a box 3ft 6" tall by about 2ft square with every other little box they could find shoved inside for packing  It's the price you pay for living in the sticks I suppose...............just don't anyone start on about using internet shops, for some of us there is no other choice
