  1. Well it took 6 months to rebuild (not because i'm slow) but retested the EE Lightning yesterday having removed the complicated Aileron control and reverting to tailerons......a much easier servo installation and simple to set up......the results were it still had great althourity but the full roll was much slower.....mind you that's no bad thing as the aileron version was a little too rapid on the roll.....
  2. So Roy, the answer is both!!!!......after the success of the twin fan version, i modified the single fan version and flew this yesterday and it went great.....
  3. Hi Alan, Happy new year to one and all.... Test flew this one at Headcorn as I needed the launching arm of Andy Boxall.....Have just retested the smaller single fan version with tailerons and a reduced thrust pipe diameter at the outlet and....SUCCESS
  4. So the single fan version wasnt a success in terms of speed and performance but it was such a stable and lovely model to fly......sooooo stable. So I decided to increase the size by 30% and fit a second 50mm edf fan (side by side)....and SUCCESS!!! Decide to make this one with built up wing and use Tailerons for simplicity. So two 3S FMS fans and operating from a single 4S 4000mah 30C lipo... AUW at the moment 2 1/4 lbs. Easy to hand launch too
  5. So the new twin fan TSR2 has been finally tested......
  6. I’m sure Kev will organise another flyin next year👍
  7. Great to know the mini jets are being considered for this years mass build......now i have to give a little credit to David Ashby on this one as two years ago, he did come up with the mini jet idea.....and the rest is history....so thanks David Also think the idea of making your own choice is a great idea as it will swell the number of interested parties. The great thing about the mass build it will hopefully share the amazing aeromodelling tallent of you guys with newbies and hopefully push the boundaries of the design concept. I do hope that participates will 'do there own thing' with the new EDF power units coming along. So at the moment you have 6 models to choose from and all of them use the same setup in terms of EDF and battery so there is no losers or winners when it comes to cost or performance. There will be a couple more next year (EE Lightning & BAC Hawk) so hopefully there will be enough to choose from....
  8. Steve, I found all the small sticker on ebay...they come as a sheet....and yes the reg is from the Vulcan......could be bothered to cut a set of bespoke reg numbers...lol
  9. The build article will be done nearer the time of publication in the RCME.....the Build photos you can download from the web site are far far more helpful
  10. No Andy.....its planned for next year anyway........I unfortunately crashed it a couple of weeks ago....my fault... doing a farmborough pass flat out at zero feet and caught a wing tip.....considering the speed, i was surprised how little damage there was
  11. Hi Marc, I wouldn't have suggested 3S if it wasn't sufficient!....adding a 4S fan will obviously improving things
  12. Thanks Keith....model is almost constructed.....so i'll soon let you know if the wing i have design works!
  13. Ok so put the wings on, cut a 40 x 40 hole and go and fly it.......
  14. Colin Try putting the nose of the model on the kitchen scales.....switch them on and they will zero with the weight of the model on them....then give it WOT with just lateraily supporting the model
