  1. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Thanks for the comments guys. The plane flies very nicely. If you really go for it then it will fly very fast and turn extremely well, but it can be flow very slowly and scale-like. It also loops extremely well. I have found rolls to be a slightly clumsy affair, but maybe that's just me.   To be honest I haven't used the rudder at all when flying this plane so I can't comment what difference it makes, but I found it fine to fly with no rudder. I'm sure someone else here has tried it who can chime in to let you know what effect it has.Edited By Jonathan Vickery on 23/08/2011 20:29:46
  2. Thanks for the info on the Slope Soaring I will take a look at it...   Just finished a little video of my maiden. I have made this video to simulate a 1918-style piece of film with an authentic soundtrack.   Edited By Jonathan Vickery on 23/08/2011 09:31:04
  3. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Well finally, two weeks after buying my SE5 I finally had a day without massive winds (it's so rubbish living on the coast). The maiden went very well and I have to say I'm very impressed with this plane.   My Parkzone Corsair is very different to this aircraft. With the Corsair you get the feeling that if you drop concentration for a split second it will bite you. the SE5 is certainly more dosile, making for an interesting flying experience and is more forgiving with its flight characteristics. I also found it more forgiving with landings. I have knocked the landing gear off my Corsair so many times by 'dropping' it when still too high. I did this with the SE5 and it absorbed the shock extremely well, and is certainly a good choice for an inexperienced pilot as a result.   My only slight disappointment was the battery life. I used the Parkzone 1800 Lipo and only got about 5-6 minutes from it which seemed a little short. I was on near full throttle for most of it because I found the aircraft was not very good to turn on low throttle. I feel I should have got more than this which was a little odd. I guess I just need to get a 2200 in it.    I am hoping for low winds tomorrow as I want to fly this plane again! One thing I noticed whilst flying was a strange rattling noise coming from the plane when it passed overhead. I am wondering what this is and have a feeling that it may be the undercarriage rattling in the wind, has anyone else noticed this?Edited By Jonathan Vickery on 20/08/2011 22:25:47
  4. Sounds great, I am still waiting for a day without howling gales, I have had this plane sitting here for a week now and still no opportunity for a flight - it sucks! Good old British summer on the coast.@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  5. A Fokker D7 would be good but I have to admit I am hoping for a tri-plane next @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  6. Haha. The build was around an hour and a half in total. I was impressed with how well it went together, it has been very well designed. I did spend some more time on it after the time-lapse had finished checking things because i was a bit annoyed to get a sloppy servo on the left wing. It had a lot more 'play' than the right one, but hopefully should be fine in flight.
  7. I have made a little video of the construction of my SE5a in time-lapse...         Hope you enjoy it! Edited By Jonathan Vickery on 08/08/2011 12:45:50 Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 08/08/2011 12:49:55
  8. No flying today on the south coast of the UK, massive winds have made this impossible   Was trying to fit my 2200 Turnigy Lipo pack in the SE5 last night and it just doesn't fit which is a shame. If anyone does try to fit another brand of 2200 Lipo and it does fit could you post here and let me know so I can get myself a couple of them? Cheers. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  9. I agree the attachment of the horizontal stabilizer is a little tricky and you have to watch not stripping the screw heads as I found them hard to screw in. I unfortunately had to return my original SE5 and the horizontal stabilizer was really warped and the plane would have not flown properly which was annoying but I got it replaced and the new one is fine. Just waiting for an improvement to the good old British weather so I can fly her...@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  10. Just picked mine up from the local shop and putting it together now @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  11. Thanks Tony. I spoke to a guy at my local model shop and they said that the SE5A's are in the UK but in customs at the moment, so could be a couple of weeks yet if they are delayed but then again could be cleared tomorrow....@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  12. Ah a servo reverser that's excellent thanks for the info that will do the trick. I will find myself a 9g servo and try to install it. Just one more thing...will a servo from another brand move more in both directions than the parkzone one? The reason I ask is if it does i will have more aileron movement up and down one side compared to the other if you see what i mean..?   Also sorry for hijacking this thread a bit as i know it was originally about the SE5A. I will shut up after this question @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  13. Hi Tony,   I was upset that Squadron Leader ceased trading as I bought a Supercub from them a coupe of years back. I had a problem with it and the guy let me drive over (they were local to me) and ran through everything with me and even opened boxes and showed me other planes - they were great.   I guess I am just unlucky with the Corsair servo as I took it apart and one of the internal cogs has half of one tooth missing so i assume this is why it will only turn in one direction which is my problem. Do all the 9g servos come in the same dimensions as the Parkzone ones so they will drop straight in?   Also I was told recently by a model shop that each side of a Parkzone wing has a servo that turns in a different direction so I have to make sure i get a left or right wing servo. I am dubious if this is correct? If it is correct how would I know that another brand of servo is going to turn in the right direction when in the wing? All of this stuff is so confusing for a newbie and there doesn't seem to be any model shop that knows what it is talking about, all i get is a barrage of 'i don't know' and 'not sure about that' - useful!
  14. I agree with RW. I am a newbie and just bought the Parkzone Corsair RTF set. I had a small crash landing which damaged a servo on the wing and after calling over 30 modelshops and spending hours and hours on it i basically cannot find a single Parkzone 1081 servo for the wing. Other parts are also like gold dust it seems.   What is the point of having these planes for sale if there are no flippin parts available. I can't afford to buy another plane so basically that's me done with flying planes before it has even begun.   I also get tired of websites allowing you to add these servos and other parts to your shopping cart and paying for them and then spending a week waiting for them and them not turning up. I then have to call them to be told 'oh yeah we don't have them in stock' without them even letting me know! They just take my money and send nothing! Many modelshops I have experienced seem to be run by people that don't even know how to run a business properly. Sorry to rant but it really is pretty pathetic and puts people like me off a great hobby.Edited By Jonathan Vickery on 29/07/2011 13:56:12
