Today was my first visit to LMA at Gaydon and I really enjoyed it, I met some new and old faces which is always a pleasure.(I didn't see you Andy, you must of been avoiding me )  I have to take my hat off to all the builders, I wouldn't know where to start putting such wonderful models together, I'm ashamed to say that all my planes come with ARTF on the box I had a good look at the new Ripmax Xcalibur and I liked what I saw, but, will I ever be allowed to buy a turbine !!, you will have to ask my good lady. 11. Unless I'm very much mistaken I see Dave Pearson's and his Corsair (in the last picture), the one featured on the front cover of this month's RCME, unfortunately its looking a little lame. What a show Dave and Trevor Wood put on at Cosford, brilliant!! Nev.Edited By Racing Snake on 25/08/2013 15:08:33
  12. Hi Jack and welcome to the forum, Next months special issue of RCM&E has an article about multi-rotor machines to haul cameras aloft for the TV and film industry. Nev.
  13. Well done Mike, glad all went well. Looking forward to starting mine now, the plan is to electrify it. Nev.
  14. Congratulations Simon, glad all went well for you. What turbine are you using? Nev.
  15. I hope all goes well and look forward to your flight report tomorrow. Happy landings, Nev.
  16. I believe I lost my Extra 300 to my DX8 and a DSM2 AR6200 combination. I returned both TX and RX to Horizon who claimed a fault had been found with the TX RF board and replaced it FOC, they also updated the firmware on the TX. I have since used my DX8 all summer with no further problems, that said, I now only use it with DSMX receivers. My advise would be to return your TX to Horizon a ASAP. Nev.
  17. Beefing up the u/c on the Renegade wasn't overly difficult and I don't recall having to strip any covering off. The major problem I found was the overall weight after adding all that lead to the nose, mine's really quite heavy which makes for faster landings. I have replace the wheels with larger ones which meant I had to remove the wheel pants, but to be fair. I doubt they would of lasted long anyway on a less than perfect grass strip. The Renegade has got it's imperfections, get them sorted and she's rock steady and flies really well. I would hate to lose my Renegade, but, would I buy another if I lost this one.......................I guess not. Nev.
  18. Hi John, My second plane was the B H Renegade and it's a joy to fly, but, I had quite a game getting the horizontal stabilizer horizontal, the landing gear needed beefing up and I found I needed to add a lot of weight to the nose to achieve the correct CoG. Get over these problems and she's a good'en. Nev.
  19. Hi Mike, I'm following this with interest as I have a Grob Tutor sat in its box waiting for me to throw it together, this will probably be in the autumn. One thing I did notice on inspection was that the pilot figures are a little on the heavy side, other than that, all looks good. Nev.
  20. Yes Wez, I'm going on Sunday, really looking forward to it, weather looks good. Nev.
  21. Hi Wez, I'm looking forward to seeing you and your turbine up at the field soon. Let me know when you're going and I'll even get the gates for you Nev.
  22. Hi Dylan, All being well I'll be there, but, I don't know whether it'll be Saturday or Sunday. Nev. Edited By Racing Snake on 08/07/2013 19:12:09
  23. On Saturday I decided I was going to Greenacres but would not be flying due to the weather. I was more than happy to travel up there to see who was about and to have a catch up with likeminded modellers. On arrival I was surprised to see so many planes flying. Was it because the weather had improved? No. Was it because the pilots were foolish?, No. It’s because the pilots had trust in their skills to be safe and to bring their models back in one piece, and yes they were brave. I have been flying for two years now and believe I could have controlled a plane despite the windy conditions, but, the landing would have been interesting to say the leased even though the wind was straight down the field. That said, I see no sense in flying in weather that is going to make me personally unsafe and greatly increase the chances of me ending up with a bin bag full of splintered balsa. I would prefer my models to stay safe in the hangar until a day where I can use them to increase my skills for next year. I’m sorry Tim but I'm afraid I would rather they be known as hangar queens than landfill.. Thanks Greenacres I had a great day, see you next time. Nev. .
  24. My Wife and I had a great time on Saturday, enjoyed every minute despite the weather. I admit I chose not to fly as even the birds were walking but applaud all you brave/skilled pilots who took to the air, you made it look easy. Many thanks to the Greenacres club and to RCM&E for another great day. See you again next year. Nev.
