  1. My new thing is to try to avoid high speed impacts with the ground or tree trunks.
  2. I have succeeded in ground impacting at speed on a couple, unfortunately they were in one of my planes at the time, and they have survived OK. An expensive 3S 3700mah (twice), and two cheapo 3S 1000mah. Used them all since with no problems.
  3. Does this mean the adaptors are available to buy, or do we make them ourselves. if so, how are they made please? Thank you.
  4. I use a wonderful programme called WebOCalc. There are downloadable versions, but usually data has to be entered on website. Google for it, as there are quite a few sites holding it.
  5. I would like one please. Have an idea for something different.
  6. I built a free-flight glider in my 30s, and had it for years until last year. I decided to electrify it, and make it RC. Terminally crashed it and decided I wanted a replacement. Have since bought and built 5. I hope to be 62 next month, depending on 'er indoors.
  7. I use Kudos. They have an Ebay shop, and white is around 1000mm x 700mm, and grey is around 1250mm x 900mm. 3mm and 6mm thick sheets work out around £2.50 each. They have a fixed delivery cost of £7.99, so I order in a reasonable quantity to get the best out of them.
  8. Simon, The weight has come out so far at around 900g. I am hoping to keep the total build weight to around 1500g, As to motoris and battery, I was thinking of around 200W motors and a 3S battery around 3Ah. As much as anything, I was into flight duration, and the weight of the battery would hopefully mean I would not have to add so much 'dead' weight to balance it. I must admit that I did originally think the whole thing a little too flexible, as I was using shorter tubing for the wing joiner. FB3:Agree entirely that Simon's stuff does fly very well, and I appreciate his comments above.

  10. Sorry, forgot to say, I looked at your Pipe Lagging thread, loved it.
  11. Thanks again, Simon. POR it is from now on.
  12. Tom:Thanks for prompt answer, and I will certainly be looking at your thread. Thanks again.Simon: I am building two at the moment. One twin-boom, will be around 1.5m wingspan. 12 x 6mm carbon fibre boom strengthenres and 12mm round wing strengtheners. Not finished yet as I am still working on the wing. Made it dismantleable for ease of carriage. Made of 6mm Depron. The other is a standard set up with twin motors. Again 1.5m wingspan, with carbon fibre strengtheners in the wing. I made the bottom of the wing and the formers from 3mm Depron, and after I had glued the wing top covers on, discovered that some glues don't work quite so well with Depron, and the covers came off. (Ho hum). Will get pictures of both on as soon as I can.
  13. Hi All,I am a complete newbie to electric flight. I had a glider years ago which I built from an old KeilKraft kit. Now, although I have a few shop-bought electric aircraft, I am into making my own using Depron. I have what I think is probably a silly question. When I look at buying a motor they usuually have a weight parameter. Does this weight parameter include the weight of the motor? Thanks.
