Are you showing Output1 and Output2 as Neg & Pos respectively as your colouring suggests? Then this wont work: Neither rx has a complete circuit back to its battery 🙂

DX8 and AR620 only two channels working
Phil Green replied to Jonah's topic in General Radio Discussion
Everyone knows someone with a DX5e or DX4e, a simple non-programmable 6ch transmitter like this would confirm for certain if the receiver channels are working 🙂 -
Beaut setting too Steve - where is that?

Domestic oil-fired boilers have a water trap in the kero feed, has anyone found that necessary on a diesel heater? 🙂

One of our PANDAS members is a retired Wren director, I believe he built the very first prototype Wren 🙂

Hobbyking did a large ornithopter a few years ago, might be a source of ideas or even parts, maybe if you're lucky on ebay a complete model! 😉

I have no problem with that, a wise suggestion. My point was that you accused 'our minority' of misleading him and belittled 'our' genre, when in fact you've no idea how many happy single-channel users there are. Personally I dont have a figure either - but I've made over 1200 (at cost, non profit), and I expect there are many more 🙂 I have zero interest in jets (another minority R/C genre) but I dont criticise or disparage the advice of those who do.

Thank you KC. We have put an awful lot of time and effort into the single-channel and retro-R/C revival, now in its 15th year. We have helped many hundreds of older flyers from all around the world relive their earliest days of R/C and the joy and wonderment expressed in their feedback has always exceeded their expectations. Our annual "Single-Channel & Retro R/C" event typically attracts 150 flyers, more than most club events I would suggest. By way of comparison, our club 'Scale' event took 6 entries. That you personally have no interest is of no concern to us, but please dont put down the sincere and dedicated efforts of others who are actually contributing a 'new' genre to the R/C hobby 🙂

I think you have to be realistic, heating a concrete cube set on frozen ground is a huge ask, so leave it to its own devices overnight and go for air temperature in the morning. Let the walls & floor be cold but keep them from the air inside with insulation - doesnt have to be expensive - people throw away expanded polystyrene and old carpets all the time. Even an old blanket hung over a wall will make a difference. Fan heaters, diesel heaters etc are quick. Divide your working area in the shed with a curtain and heat only that area. Air temperature is the key thing, I dont think heating the actual structure of a concrete bunker is economically realistic (...or necessary!) 😉

I treated myself to a proper cabin as a retirement present, I had great plans for the internal layout, corner coffee table & comfy chairs, central work-around bench, etc... It all started so well... ...but then this happened.... ...and now I cant see the floor where I used to have a Scalextric layout... Ah well.

Best IC engine for Vic Smeed Tomboy

As previously posted, https://www.4-max.co.uk/ppom-2321.htm on 2S and a 7x3.5 is more than enough for a Tomboy. -
This is a Digimac 1+1 conversion to 2.4g using my 'lockdown' homebrew FHSS system. The set has seen some action so not in perfect cosmetic condition but I really like 1+1's, its such a pleasant way to fly S/C. It gives you proportional rudder (with trim) and a sequential 3-position throttle (mid throttle can be anywhere between, doesnt have to be 50%) Mine is in a Vic Smeed 'Poppet' which you may have seen flying at Old Warden at the FF end. With a lithium PP3 battery theres plenty of room inside so I left the original 27Mhz board in place with the idea that a fake PP9 battery shell would hide all the modern bits. Maybe. 🙂 The odd looking silver thing plugged into the receiver is a vape cell.

I hate to disagree with George but the recommended 250 watt setup is ridiculous! https://www.4-max.co.uk/ppom-2321.htm on 2S and a 7x3.5 is more than enough for a Tomboy. -

For glow, a Cox Babe Bee is one of the most versatile model engines ever made. Cheap, available, reliable, and a radial mount with integral tank. But I would personally recommend an electric setup. 30 to 40 watts is ample with the bonus of perfect throttle control 🙂 ...however the original question was " Whats the best IC engine for a Tomboy" and for that there can be only one answer - a Mills 75 🙂
