  1. Just completed building my Vag. Careful with the canopy, is very thin so needs to be reinforced with diamond tape around the retaining pins.
  2. Andy E's On the edge article. Well penned but no photo/model credit to the upper left picture on Page 48. Does anyone know the model of glider in this photo ?
  3. Invest in the parallels application for the mac. It will enable you to run the windows o/s and applications. I run the Phoenix simulator this way on my iMac and it runs and looks superb.
  4. "Winter hill is best in a north-west or north wind. South is flyable, but a very narrow lift band. east is a waste of time." I beg your pardon sir ! Easterleys accessable via the Trig Point on Winter Hill. We had a great session last week......  Other Noth-West site would be Jeffrey hill, just outside of Longridge.
  5. Steve,   Steel rods - Are you converting her for combat   I too am slightly nose heavy. I have a very gradual climbout on the dive test, plus about 1/5 downstick when inverted. Still early days though.   I have used slightly more expo on the elevator than the ailerons.       Much to learn...... ( Back to my Dave Hughes book ! )
  6. Nice one Steve. I have both Alula Mk1 and a Hawk... They are as different as chalk and cheese ! Comments regarding the COG are correct. I ditched the control horns and went for the Irvine metal posts (MG120's) Crancked in some expo otherwise the Hawk is quite twitchy. I decided to laminate the whole thing with 125micro lam film (thanks go to Mark Abbotts). We had good Easterlys on Winter Hill (Lancashire) over the week end. The TX is reading 2hrs 48mins..... It flys past when your having fun.....   Thanks to Phil & Ian from Rivington Soarers for helping with the trimming   Nice new tranny case.... thanks RCME !

  8. Welcome to the Velodrome. 1 + 1/3 pages of dribble, dissing the venue ! I am fortunate enough to enjoy cycling in addition to flying. I have ridden the velodrome many times. Alex's comment "Built to a price" really grates the teeth. THE COST IS IN THE TRACK MAN !! That pile of wood holds 12 current world records and is regarded as the fastest track on Earth at sea level. I've also ridden tracks in Belgium and Spain - they all look the same from the outside. So next time Alex, lets concentrate on the models and the flying.
  9. Yes ... I have wing mounted servos - about 10 inches out from the root. I mounted mine in robbe servo locks. I have Zebra ZS-M218's all round...These little chaps give plenty of torque for their weight. I also opted to glass & spray paint the whole thing to give me a more durable airframe.
  10. Hope  you include the all electric "epo" constructed WOT4 !
  11. Hi Peevie, I'm weighing up whether to invest in the module - plugging it into my 3810 OR biting the bullet and getting a DX7. The thing is i've invested time and effort getting used to the 3810. I dont know (but hope) all my mixes will port through the module. I only use Acro/Glider settings.  I havn't seen any reviews of these modules (or the jeti offering ). Maybe this post will serve as a subtle hint to the magazine ! !
  12. Has anyone reviewed the Spektrum 2.4 module for JR Tx's ?
  13. Thanks chaps, for the correction and the realy useful information. I didn't know how big the sport was over there and now can't wait to get over there.
  14. Thanks for the advice chaps. I remember Brian and Nigel doing the cross channel attempt .. think they had to go with 40Mhz.. I'll be off cycling in the the alps (alpe d-huez)but i'll be taking an alula with me. Do JR have a 40Mhz module or would it be cheaper just buying a basic 40Mhz setup ?
  15. Decided to do a little silent flight in France this Summer. Does anybody know of any restrictions/hoops to jump through in order to operate out there.
