  1. After using my 3s lipo batteries I store them ( at storage voltage or lower) in a unmodified Sentry 1200 fire proof chest in my garage along with the cars! This is for long term storage .Would a bat-safe or sussex model centre "extron fireballs soft safe" or fireball granules pack around my batteries be a better option. I also note many cheap soft cases advertised in Amazon uk. What is the recommendation by BMFA or by other flyers on this forum in late 2022. Is the safest place my shed at -10C to 40C!! Thank you .
  2. Advice on a low wing model Now in my seventies I was brought up with David Boddington in the 1960's Single channel kit build macgregor transistor receiver and kit built rcm&e galloping ghost transmitter. Started building again two years ago and decided to go electric using DB's RM Trainer.( I hadn't seen Nigel r conversion) I now want to move on to a electric low winger and would like any help I can get. I don't need a great aerobatic model as I will be pleased to achieve a simple level circuit! Do I build DB's aerobat, DB's Excellence or could I get away with Peter Miller's Ballerina. Any thoughts would be a great help. Thank you.
  3. After a long long break from flying I bought some 4S 2200 zippy compact from Hobbyking. Initial voltage was measured from 3 sources. Simple lipo checker (voltage converted to capacity using internet voltage/capacity graphs) Multimeter (using same graph) Prolux multichecker includes capacity First surprise all recorded 20%. Is this very low for a new battery? Charged using a Sigma EQ 50 watt charger (circa 2009!) using 1C 2.2 amps. Initial voltage much higher than initial readings. Terminated when charger reached 4.0 volts. ( graph gave 80% capacity). However all three checkers gave 70%!! Checked second battery, initially the same. This time fitted wattmeter between charger and battery. All voltage readings the same as the charger. but amps were 1,86. Any ideas why please? I guess the answer is to buy a new charger. RCM&E December review of the Overlander RC-S65 looks to me my needs. Would appreciate any comments on my saga.
  4. Love the design. Do you have a design for the aileron wing you decided not to carry on with? Thank you
  5. Thank you all for your help. I hope to get the plane into the air soon. It is 55 years since I built a Vernon Robot with single channel RC and a Alan Mercury Am 25 motor. How the hobby has changed .I am glad I had the courage to start again. I just hope I can achieve my A certificate at my senior years! Thanks again.
  6. On plan RM287 RM Trainer I can't find the ailerons, elevator and rudder settings. Looking at the Aerobat plan RM 285 the deflections for a beginner are ailerons 1/4in up. 3/16in down, elevator 3/8in each way, rudder 3/4in each way. Measuring from the RM Trainer plan would suggest ailerons 1/4in each way, elevator 3/8in each way and rudder 3/4in each way. I guess the actual dimensions were in the original build text. Can anybody confirm what they were intended to be for a beginner?...Thank you.
